brought brand new consumer report stated better than even the toyota camry hybrid. Only second to honda hybrid which gets 50 mpg but just as reliable

this vehicle looks great and drives great has great technical features handless calling with a lot of controls on the steering wheel

2016 Sonata Hybrid

I've only had the car for 1 year and it's been in the shop of most of that year. So far I've had the axle, hub bearing and backing plate replaced. Now the noise that i'm continuing to hear is considered "normal" and the sound is coming from "HPU Cycling", which makes absolutely no sense, because when I test drove the car and drove it off the lot, I didn't hear any sounds. At this point I really DO NOT WANT THIS CAR! This is my 2nd vehicle with Hyundai, and this is unacceptable.

2016 Sonata Hybrid

I have only owned this car for 3 months and have under 3000 miles on it so these are my early opinions. The Hybrid battery failed and had to be changed already (so I gave it a 5). I have not seen anywhere near the advertised MPG, this may be due to the cold winter temps so I'll have to wait until summer and see if it improves to the advertised MPG or not. It is an SE model so not a lot of options(features) on it but, is well equipped for base.

Could be better

Car has potential but four key factors reason for low score. Needs better braking system, better quality radio sound system, better lights for rainy weather, and last not as fuel efficient as claimed.

Same ol stuff

The mechanical seat(s) are hard to use especially when driving. The clock, I have to hunt for it - it is in the wrong place. Should be higher on dash. The car has excessive road noise. Needs to be quietened by sound insulation, especially for what I paid for it. The passenger side door will not catch and stays opened then , it will close on your leg while getting in/out of car. Not a happy camper.

Help!

Like gas mileage but bumpers too low and wiring way too vulnerable to rodent damage. Not under warranty for this kind of damage, Too expensive to fix. My service dealer's solution for the future was to put mothballs in my engine. Mothballs are a poison and you can smell them in the passager cabin!!!

I am not pleased with the hybrid system. It seems sensitive. It needs work after one year. I will not get a hybrid next time.

A wonderful car with a glaring, costly flaw.

I love everything about the Sonata but one thing. I hit a high curb and tore out the bumper lining—$7,000 to fix it. Then it happened again. I have been driving for 32 years and this is the ninth car I have owned, and never had such a problem. It is the only Hybrid on the market that is worth buying, imho. But I wonder if anyone else has had this trouble?

Great car but has issues

So my car is awesome...sometimes. I am a pilot so i love plenty of electronics and got this car with every bell and whistle i could. It is a joy to drive, very quiet, good sound system, the automatic cruise control will slow me down to the speed of the car in front of me, and even stop the car if they slam on their break....ive become very spoiled. That said, I am currently on the 3rd transmission in this car since i bought it in june of 2016. Since ive had it, ive lost two transmissions, an oil pump, and had to get the rear wheels aligned! (i've never had to do that on any car before). Apparently the air filter t the passenger area gets dirty much faster than those on other cars, because every time ive gone in, it was recommended that i buy a new one. last negative...it doesnt come with a spare. I drive alot and that is unacceptable to me, but unfortunately now that i have one, i have a very small amount of trunk space left. So yes, while i do love the car, next time I may go back to Nissan...very dependable cars with LARGE trunks. :) Note: on the ratings below ive had to give it a 6 since it has been in the show a total of 3 months since i bought it.

Not as well made as the Kias I have owned

Have "limited" model with sunroof. Car is barely 2 years old but the sunroof creeks like an old bus. Dealer says not under warranty. It has needed several warranty repairs while I have had 3 Kias with no problems. Sometimes the computer reboots for no apparent reason while driving. Don't know why we can't set it to turn on in "normal" mode, not eco. Otherwise pretty nice car.

Losing faith in Hyundai

I purchased a Hyundai because of the reliability and warranty, but having owned it for 18 months and having it in for repair 3 times I am reconsidering my thoughts. How does a catalytic converter go bad in 20,000 miles? I am not giving up just yet as they have been great at fixing everything under the warranty. Hopefully all the problems are all worked out now as I love the car.

Sonata Hybrid

Overall, I can’t wait to rid myself of this car in 2 years. It’s geeat in gas but the quality is not worth the cost. It stalls from time to time and shuts off when powering on with the push start. Looks nice but the interior is hard to clean.

Good car when it works

I am pleased with my Hyundai, the regular service experiences are good. I will likely never buy another Hyundai! When I bought the car the Navigation system did not work. It took me over a year and multiple visits where I waited for a total of 20+ hours and no one wantefd to fix it. They kept telling me it was OK. Finally after many attempts to fix the system was replaced and works fine. My frustrations would have been easier to deal with if you simply provided a loaner car so I did not have to wait around the show room or find a ride to get out. This was a defective part on a new car and there was a total lack of concern for your customer.

Sonata hybrid OK but not great

The mileage is good but the inconvenience of no spare tire is not acceptable. Every time you have a flat tire, you have to purchase a sealant canister for $50. Hyundai gouges you for the canister. I went to KIA and purchased it for $15 less than Hyundai quoted.

I like the Sonata Hybird because of the mileage but I found out after time that it does go down some the interior could be better and I see know that it has been upgraded on things I would like to have now but would not buy a new Sonata just for the few upgrades and Idon't like the way it lost so much vale over the couple of years I've owned it

My luck getting the one Sonata with the rare issue

I don't know why, but I am having this issue where my car is currently getting mid 30s mpg on the highway when it usually gets around 44. My local hyundai replaced a bunch of parts, but I am still having poor mpg for my hybrid. It's been difficult researching my problem because few people experience this. My car is only slightly over 2 years old too. Goodness, it was so promising and I wanted to keep this car for a long time.

Good car but had piles of little things that appear

Although the car is dependable, things like the suspension creaks and makes noises, The steering makes a weird grinding noise while turning, especially when cold Tires worn out at 35,000 primarily due to poor service of car. Service just wanted me to go away and was not willing to listen, the service managers typical response was "I can't remember". The safety features that I paid for, do not work as stated.

Hyundai has no respect for their customers

I love the car now, but it took two years and many wasted hours to get a factory defect corrected. The car drives well. the safety features are great, the milage is excellent for a realativly large sedan.
