Base Hybrid need upgrades

Base Sonata Hybrid are nice vehicles. But they need major upgrades in the braking system and audio that the vehicle is equipped with. Braking is major with stopping distance that can exceed 50 feet on good road and weather conditions.

Good vehicle

would give it 5 stars, but it is not a smooth operating vehicle.the 2011 snd 2013 were much smoother.It's also too hard to get in and out of for older people. Don't like SUV's but a sedan doesn't work for older people.Too low.

A great idea - without any backup

Great ride On highway-cruise control on sunroof open- great satellite stereo balanced- car moves with no sound like a cat eating up the miles- map screen showing you where u are-going to-been Seats adjust to weather, size and comfort BUT Trunk space sucks No room for a family of 3 Barely enough for two

Looks good! But it isn't that good.

This car is beautiful and it rides smooth and makes very little noise when running. But the engine is not responsive all the time and usually not when you need it. I was recently asked if I liked my car. I said yes, but not enough to suggest you buy one. There is also a problem with the driver side window that sometimes doesn't go up all the way. Oh, my car was a dealer show vehicle before I got it. I think it was still considered new tho.

Very disappointing

I loved this car at first. Its super quite, ride is super smooth and I got about 500 miles per tank of gas if not more (I literally only filled up twice a month). After a while I started having a lot of issues. The check engine light goes on and off. When it comes on the car shakes and i can’t accelerate until it turns off. Dealer says they cant fix it unless the light stays on. The transmission went out after maybe 30,000 miles? Maybe a little later but it just randomly happened very early in to me getting the vehicle. My coolant system has a leak. I had it repaired only to find out my car is still leaking fluid and has to be looked at again to see what it is they missed the first time. My blinkers don’t work correctly, they turn on in the opposite direction I turn them. I Always did the scheduled maintenance like I was supposed to. I recently sold it with 76,000 miles on it because it was just to much of a hassle. There are also quite a few recalls that I've had to bring it in to be checked for.

Sonata Hyb Ride

The gas millage is great, as I expected. The ride is very rough on city street and the freeways. One can feel every crack or bump in the roads. As each bump can be felt it can also be heard. On trips it is very wearing/tiring. I will not be buying another Hyundai when the time comes to replace this car. In past reviews the car was new to us and we felt in time the rough ride and road noise would change But It has not.

Had a lot of trouble

My wife hates it because it broke down on her when it only had a little over 3,000 miles on it. She said she would never own another one. You can check the maintenance records and you can see how much trouble we've had with the car. We're not satisfied with it at all but we owe to much on it to trade.

Hyundai has no respect for their customers

Hyundai builds a good car, but if there are problems you ar better off with another manufcturer. I like the style inside and out. There is pleanty of power. Lots of safety features. Good milage. The car is very comfortable and quiet on the road

Bad car or just bad luck?

Might never buy a hybrid again. Love the look and style, just haven't been impressed with the hybrid system. Seems like a traditional vehicle might be better for me. Not sure if it just my car or all of this model

Sonata Hybrid Not Worthwhile!

The Sonata Hybrid started out fine. I was getting 45+ MPG. Lately, the car really seems to be struggling going thru the gears while driving on the highway, and the MPG has fallen to the mid 30's at best. After taking the car in to be checked, was told that it is all fine. Nothing to be done to it because there is nothing wrong with it. Really??? So much for going with a Hybrid - it doesn't last (the vehicle is less than 3 years old) The trade in value right now is also very pitiful. In addition, this vehicle has always been TERRIBLE driving in the snow. The worst car I've ever driven on snowy or even just wet roads - terrible traction! This is my 3rd Hyundai Sonata - This will now be my last.

Betrayal

The vehicle betrayed us in the worst possible way a machine can betray a human being. It was so good to us to the moment it wouldn't start again. People told us that it will get better, but it didn't. We had to get a replacement while our Hyundai was in your hands. You couldn't fix it, so we got another vehicle. We love it now and cherish it. But we can not forgive you for the hopes and dreams you destroyed with being false with us. I am so sorry to inform you that we are not buying a Hyundai again. Ever.

Lots of issue with hybrid system

I own this car for about 2 years now, bought it brand new. When you drive it in eco mode, the car doesnt have the horsepower to move but it will have speed if driven in sport mode. However, the mpg will not be so great. I couldn't start the engine around 36k. The hybrid alarm came on. I took it to the dealer and it was some electrical issue. At 60k the water pump fail. Good thing it was still under warranty. Also, 1 recall on the start/ stop button. I don't know what other issue will arise at around 100k.

2016 Sonata Failure

I'm very disappointed in the maintenance record of my Sonata Hybrid. There have been 3 major Hybrid related issues in the last 6 months, all rendering the car undrivable. I'm afraid to drive it far from home, for fear of getting stuck.

never buy hyundai

lots breakdown not reliable car at all special the hybrid models i must spent lots money to fix this car just in three years and the computer systems on the hyundai is even crazier this week when my antifreeze was low it show hybrid battery sign wich is scary

Hybrid system

I do not reccomend the Hybrid. If you put a lot of miles on a car you take a chance on warranty expiring. The 2016 sonata hybrid got problems with the hybrid system. The system also took the battery out which is also on a warranty basis and is prorated.

Repairs expensive

I've had the transmission, spark plugs, power relay and battery replaced on 2016 car. Not impressed with costs and need for repairs. A car like this should not need such extreme replacements so soon. It is upsetting.

Unreliable

Hyundai has deteriorated in the last few years. Their electronics and engine keeps failing and many recurring issues. The bumper to bumper is only 60k warranty and many issues happen after the warranty. Power train warrenty does not cover many of the critical issues and one should not be fooled when they say 100k warrenty as that's only for power train where most cars will not have an issue with these days anyway. The electronics is the issue these days with Hyundai and that's outside of the power train. This will be my last Hyundai.

Brain dead

The plug-hybrid doesn't come with a PTC electric heater. This means the gas engine needs to run and gulp loads of gas if you want any heat. For car that is supposed to be an electric vehicle first with a gas backup, not having a PTC electric heater is a major, major design flaw. I hate car because of it.

My vehicle has turned out to be a lemon, I will probably never buy a Hyundai ever again! I have contacted Hyundai Directly they want a bunch of paperwork and didn’t seem to care that I have not been driving my car for the last six months! This is very upsetting because I bought a really nice car and every time I get a loaner turns out to be a shitty car so therefore I will never recommend directly they want a bunch of paperwork and didn’t seem to care that I have not been driving my car for the last six months!
