What this machine needs.

I love this car: However it needs more high voltage battery. In city driving -stop/go it is too dependent on the gas engine. It needs to stay on battery because another stop light is lust a few yards ahead. So put more HV battery in the car and keep it on battery until open road. Then let it go to gas and recharge at that time. I owned a 1994 Sonata which was better than the 17. Neither has enough HV battery. Put rear-end cameras that look sideways while backing out of parking slots. It is very difficult to see out of this car on the rear sides. Two more cameras will be a big help. Improve the cabin fresh air ventilation. There are many times when fresh air is all that is needed. Why run the AC when cool fresh air is available? Improve the insulation between the engine compartment and the cabin. To much engine heat come into the cabin.

Nice Car, But

The Sonata is a nice care but there are a few things I don't like. First, the way if shift when it cold almost like the transmission is slipping. Second, cannot have only drivers door unlock, all doors unlock at the sametime, don't like that. Every other car I have owned you could set it to only unlock drivers door. Third, cannot turn off lock unlock tone, don't like that. Every other car I owned the tone could be turned off . Fourth, cannot turn off the stupid turn off turn off tones, hate it. Fifth, cannot turn off the stupid message on display saying to obey all vehicle laws every time vehicle gets turn on, really hate that. The good, vehicle is very reliable have not had any problems with it.

Great Car

This car saves me money every time I fill up. I am getting 41.0 mi/gal instead of 19.0 mi/gal. The car is very sleek looking on the outside and well appointed on the inside. It has lots of truck space, especially after they redesigned the location of the battery.

One year of excellent driving.

After a year of driving and a long trip to the Great Rocky Mt National Park, I am extremely happy with my Sonata Hybrid. The mileage is excellent. There is little road noise and I have plenty of power when I need it! My regular maintenance trips to Fletcher's Hyundai have been good.

Key

the only real complaint I have about my 2017 Hyundai Sonata is the key fob. The internal key stem becomes unattached from the actual fob so easily. And at about $350 to replace one, it is a real detriment. I just assume I am going to lose it at some point because it comes apart from the fob so easily. Small item that can easily be a big headache...and an expensive one.

Good on gas. One problem, the seat belts don't retract properly as they should. This could cause chipped in paint when the door is closed on the buckle

Again, the car is good on gas. The only problem I have had is with the seat belts on both of the front seats.They simply don't retract as they should. It is an annoying problem, plus the buckle on the belt can drag on the ground and/or chip paint from on or around the car door.

I am happy with the fuel ratings and the actual.mileage. just a little too low to the ground.

I have owned four or five of these sonnata hybrids brand new. I don't think I get very good trade in value for the new car. Otherwise I am in love with the hybrid technology. I believe we could do a better job of tweaking the run times between the battery and the gas engine. With a stronger battery this car should easily get 55- 60 mpg.

My Sonata Plug-In

I owned three hybrid Prius and one plug in Prius before buying the Sonata . I love it - heavier, larger tires, more room and gets better mileage than my Prius. I also like and use all the safety features.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited 2017

Low priced but high quality build. Great as family/commute car. Nothing special if you are looking for sport car. If you need robust car for daily comfortable commute and you are NOT tall - this car is for you. To park this car is great pleasure - very convenient. Standard Kumho tires are not holding wet road well, dry road is ok. I am considering to replace tires to Michelin just before next fall.

Wiring System

My maintenance light came on and, to shorten the story, it took 3 trips to the dealership to find out why. I’ve lost confidence in this car and hesitate to take it on any long trips as it still not running like it used to. I’ll be trading it soon for maybe a Kia.

the most important question I ask is if everything is under warranty and I was told yes then started to read paperwork and the starter and the engine is not covered under the dealers engine for a life time warranty

Great car

I really like the sonata. It is comfortable and very roomy. It has been on multiple long trips and is comfortable and easy to drive. The drivers seat is easy to adjust for all the different drivers in our family.

Sonata Hybrid Review

The main complaint I have about this Sonata Hybrid model (and this is my second) is that it is next to impossible to tell if it is running or not when it is operating just on electric. I have been reading that more than a few people have left the motor running at home in the garage with the garage door down and have wound up dead from carbon monoxide poisoning. SO I am not the only one who thinks something could and should be done to make it more obvious when the engine is still running. And the difficulty in getting the space clean in the angle at the bottom of the rear window is absolutely ridiculous. I can't imagine I'm the only one fed up with this either.

The car is fun to drive reliable. The design is nice but can use a few improvements to distinguish from sport and other models. The partially cloth seats are not the best idea. The front doors can use a new construction to prevent closing on passenger when exiting. Overall, a nice car.

Great car for city driving or short trip under 200 miles. Seats could use some more padding but the lumbar support is very good with room in front and back seats for a person 6 ft. 2 in.. City driving mileage is usually 43-45 mpg and road driving is 39-40 mpg.
