Great car

I bought my veloster rally edition turbo new in 2016 from Craft Hyundai and I love it its a great little car and has served me well. It os sporty and is a real head turnrer it has pep and is a blast to drive; but thats not the main reason i bought it the reliability and superb gas mileage were what sealed the deal for me. The staff at Craft Hyundai was friendly and made this the best car buying experience I’ve ever had.

Better than expected.

More fun than expected too! Came off a Miata; drove a 2016 Genesis Coupe but it felt very heavy in the corners...have to admit it was great acceleration. Will consider new model; waiting to see that new Genesis Coupe!

Love my Rally Edition Veloster

When I bought my Veloster, I was looking for a fun, economical car that was not a "mom car." I drive over 50 miles a day in my work commute, so I need a car that won't suck up too much gas. I also visit my children in North Carolina often, so I wanted a car that was comfortable for long drives. Finally, I really wanted a turbo with a six speed because it's fun! The only issue I have ever had in the three years I have owned this car was flat tires. And the nails I drove over had absolutely nothing to do with the car! It was time for new tires anyway since I was over 50,000 miles. My little car makes the trip to work fun every morning. It has serious "giddy up and go" power and excellent handling. I have to set my cruise control to avoid creeping too far above the speed limit. I love shifting up through the gears, and the pedals are all chrome. It makes me feel like I am driving a race car. The back-up camera makes life easier. Because of the design, it is hard to see behind you when you back up. Without that camera, I would be praying for a safe exit from parking spaces. For the money, you can't go wrong.

Veloster surprised me

I bought it for the utility of small car commuting. I had a checklist and it met 16 of the 20 items on my list. After I had it for a couple weeks, I started to love it more and more. In fact, I bought a second one 2 years later. The 3 door design seemed gimmicky at first, until I had passengers and they couldn't get out into traffic. The 3rd door also kept the car from being rated as a coup, so my insurance was cheaper. Love the hatch back and folding rear seats, makes the car so much more versatile.

Peep the Veloster

This turbo powered pumpkin of mine is a mean little street machine that really has some pep to match its prowess. This puppy can punch pavement if pushed and really put other stock hatchback posers in place. Pretty sure you’ll be pleased with the performance, personally. While the tight suspension might punish your pin cushion, don’t protest, it more than makes up for it in personality. Just don’t pretend potholes don’t exist and you’ll be playin pass the traffic and having fun while doing it.

Good

I really love my car but I feel the turbo lag is much too prominent. You can feel the lag from first gear. Once you hit 3rd it holds out super long and has a hard time deciding whether it will shift up or down. I realize that third gear is the longest gear but its very obvious. I have worked on cars since I was a child. I feel the cars shifting and lag could be improved on tremendously.

Awesome in every way, except..

#1. LOVE this car. I needed a commuter 'cool' car that got good gas mileage. It's a 2016 turbo that gets on average between city and SLOW (traffic) highway, about 32 mpg. I took it from Rock Hill SC to Cumberland MD and never got tired. Very comfortable sport seats. All tech stuff is up-to-date and great. Now, the one flaw. Let me preface by saying I am not a diagnostic guy. But there is something wrong with the stop-and-go shifting. Like on the highway at rush hour and the car will either not accelerate (with the touch of the gas pedal), or tool up the turbo and shoot forward, needing to apply the brake, while the turbo is still tacking. the transition from 1st to 2nd gear jerks the car like a teenager with their first stick sift (this is the one that kills me). I have heard other stories from Veloster owners. Other than that I love it!

Great Car

it is an OK car, not too crazy about having only 3 doors, I would rather have a full back seat instead of the console right in the middle, I have never used the paddles that on the steering wheel (DO NOT LIKE THEM). I wish I would have upgraded to a newer elantra - loved that car!!!!

Fun care

I have owned 3 of them and they have been great, there are a few things though, it is not the smoothest ride, sits down low on the ground and you feel the road. Its ok if thats what you are looking for. I do have issues with the whole not having a spare tire thing. I know, some new cars are going to this but its a pain in the butt if you get a flat and have to be towed. Good stereo, very comfortable for me 5'5"

2016 Veloster

Love this style and features. I get a lot of complements on the color. I was concerned that I had to replace all four tires before 11,500 miles. They should be better than that. Also the car is very low to the ground but otherwise I love it and and when I need to go bigger will go with a Hyundai vehicle.

2016 veloster

really like my car. i have owned many hyundais and they have all treated me pretty well. They have been dependable, durable and most have been fun to drive. A recent experience and a realization of how you can be used in the car business, will bring an end to my relationship with both edmond hyundai and hyundai in general. Too bad, it was a good run for close to 20 years!

I love this car I only wish that mine had the jack and spare tire and garage opener no other complaints great on gas fun car ...it handles very well very comfortable and has such a sporty look to it it is my favorite car

Ok to drive and fuel economy is good

Reliability is good drive ability is good fuel economy is good, but when I wanted to trade it in for the next year model after only having the car for 7 months it had dropped in value by 60 per cent, I thought this was very unusual for a car to drop that much so fast the car had only been driven approximately 2700 miles.

2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo (sans Tech package and sunroof)

My thoughts on this car after 2 years and 25k miles: still loving it. There are a few design flaws, like rear visibility (rear window is poorly positioned so the mirror shows you the spoiler and little else.) The factory tyres didn't last anywhere near as long as I expected, considering their grip levels (about 22k) but I have high hopes for my chosen replacements after reading some of the tyre reviews. Wish there was just a little more engine/exhaust noise - sound insulation is probably just a little too good for my taste. Touch screen is too bright at night, even at its lowest setting. And finally, the centre exhaust means lots of steam on cold mornings directly below the middle of the rear window, fogging it up with condensation instantly until the exhaust finally warms up. Rear seat is so small as to be virtually unusable except for small children or emergencies (not a problem for me, though.) But these are small niggles. Overall, it's a lot of fun to row through the gears. Fast enough to play with, not so fast that it's hard to control. No problems with driving in snow. Comfortable - I've done 12 hours at a stretch with no back issues or unusual amounts of tiredness. Handles well - firmer suspension that some would prefer, but that's how I like it. Overall, very happy with it - and expecting to keep it for many years to come.

I like my veloster

If i don't get the same lease deal ill look around other wise I might go 6 years of leasing another of the same VELOSTER and if that's the way i feel then Im sure i'm feeling the value v/s a little less up front super exceleration i might get with an electric or hybrid that will brake the bank monthly now and then cost thousands at 100k .Miles like my last hybrid i threw away at 120k when it was worth 5k and 3k to fix.

Enjoying my Veloster but...

I like most everything about my Veloster except the dual clutch surges and when I depress the accelerator it may or may not take off right away. I'm told that this is one of the not so good features of the dual clutch. Will think twice before purchasing another vehicle with a dual clutch. For the most part, my Veloster is great to drive. More passing power than any one would ever need. Very comfortable ride.

Very crashworthy, however 35k on a new motor is not acceptable

Car had new motor installed at 35k and not warranteed. The manufactures tires lasted only 18k. Replacement inexpensive ones lasted 40k. No other serious issues except lights and turn signals replaced annually. Decent gas mileage.

Fun Car

I bought this car, a 2016 Turbo Voloster for my wife. I've asked her many times if she had any complaints at all. Only one. She's five foot five. She doesn't like the passenger seat. It sits too low with no verticle adjustment. That's her only complaint. That is also my only complaint. What I do like about the Voloster are several things. First is that it is fun to drive! Especially on the freeways. It's geared for higher speeds and on the interstate it shines. It's the best use I know of for a 1.6 liter engine. I would prefer a 2.0 liter, but the turbo'd 1.6 liter gets great mpg on regular gas and does quite well. All in all, the dual clutch is nice, the ride is very nice, the power is good, the Interior is very nice. I test drove a non turbo'd model. It was so gutless I was saddened that Hyundai would even put it on the market.
