Ioniq EV 2 Year Review

Overall, I really like the vehicle, it handles very well and charges.Well, but there are certain things I don't like such as when I have to keep the engine on.I can't lock the doors which is a big downside.Also , when you walk away from the vehicle after parking , it , it doesn't lock and that feature should have been built in one , hyundai developed this vehicle a couple years ago. Also , sometimes when I try to unfold my mirrors , it doesn't unfold when I press the button and I have to pull over fully stop and unfold them. That should not happen either along with the fact that the displays sometimes just randomly change out of nowhere on the front dashboard.

Mixed Feelings

I was happy with the performance, fast and controllable. Having to charge was not fun. It took me 8.5 hours to get to a destination which would have taken 6 if I had a hybrid or gas vehicle. If you can handle a lot of unnecessary beeping that you can’t control, be my guest.

Roomy and comfortable to drive

In general, there is a lot to like about my 2024 Ionic 5. It's a great car to get in and out of. The ride is comfortable on surface roads and highways. The "mileage" is reasonable with about 280 miles per charge on average (a bit less in summer heat). The build quality is excellent.

Not a bad move from Tesla, but not an upgrade

Not a Tesla. Less features, slower, more luxurious, but so much work compared to the effortless experience of the Tesla.

I have driven it from Virginia to Canada and back, I have spent time in the middle of nowhere with it and it preformed well on rough roads and long distances between charges

Love this car.

Tested 4 other EVs before selecting Ionic 5. Leasing the vehicle with significant dealer rebate was a big selling point. Overall, after 1.5 years of leasing and driving it across the country, we have been delighted with its performance, its comfort, and most of its features.

Surprised at how much I love it

I’m 6’4” and had always been a truck guy. I was curious about Eva’s but was nervous about how I’d enjoy driving it every day. Concerns around charging time, range anxiety etc. so when I saw the lease deal for the Ioniq, I took a leap of faith willingly trading out my Tacoma for a little battery powered hatchback, and… I. Love. It!
