Solid drive with lukewarm vibes and reliability concerns

It's my go-to car. I haven't had issues with comfort. The ride is a little stiff, but not uncomfortable for long drives. The adaptive cruise control and lane keep are really good for freeway driving and the safety features have helped me a few times. I am disappointed that I paid so much for it last year and now the prices have fallen precipitously without any contact from Hyundai about giving anything in exchange for it. I am concerned that the ICCU issue has not been discovered or resolved, I fear it's a danger for me and my family and I cannot recommend the car with that knowledge. I think the looks are okay, it has character, but I don't feel like it's opinionated. Parts of the car rattle and feel cheap, it would have benefited significantly to add some foam in various connecting pieces of the interior.

Outstanding Vehicle Done Wrong By ICCU

I love this car - the power, the comfort, the ease of use. It’s a dream to drive, has all the buttons and tech for a modern car, tons of cargo room, generous seating! So what’s the problem? The ICCU - this has been a known problem for at least 4 years, and yet Hyundai is still failing to get it right. My car stopped working because of the ICCU issue two months ago - and it still is on back order and I have no idea when it will be fixed. This is unacceptable in a car like this - after 4 years, Hyundai should have a genuine, reliable replacement part that works (and is in stock). Instead, between 5-15% of these cars are affected with no way to know if yours is next. Fix this issue, and this is a guaranteed 5 Star vehicle with no compromises.

Great but a few quirks.

The bad, air conditioning does not stay on while parked. I suspect water intrusion from rain, experiencing some musty odor, but I don’t know where it’s coming from. IPhone connectivity goes out occasionally. Inability to use hey siri when phone is connected.

Sporty and Agile

The Ionic 5 is fast, sporty and very agile like a sports vehicle. It maneuvers competently and is stylish. The infotainment system is nice and works well with my Iphone. connecting and charging.. It is very roomy and the seats feel good with several adjustments. It is nice to be able to control the auto with fob or the phone.The windshield is large and presents a wide view. The sound system in the SEL sounds great. I do find it a bit bumpy and road noise is kinda loud. Still fun to drive.

Love this car!

First EV and couldn't be happier. It's been fun to drive. Interior is futuristic yet functional. AWD is a plus in New England winters. I don't use this car for long trips so cannot comment on the range. For my purposes driving around town and short trips, I have not had any issues with range.

Well built car but software/high tech leaves much to be desired

Drives well, comfortable and sleek look. Well built and good fit and finish. Good battery size and range. Software is archaic and inefficient. This is a major drawback for an EV. Software updates are rare. Navigation software is cumbersome and inefficient. Many available chargers are not even listed. Plug and charge function does not always work. MAJOR ISSUE is faulty attention monitoring camera. Keeps alarming even when I have my eyes on the road. I tried using contact lenses, changed glasses, adjusted seat and wheel and nothing helped. It keeps alerting every time there is sunshine. No issue at night. This is a major problem and I got a software update to fix that actually made the problem worse. It almost makes the enhanced autopilot worthless.

Please Do Not Purchase an Ioniq 5!

If you are thinking of buying an electric vehicle... look somewhere else! This car looks great, but is a literal ticking time bomb waiting to die on you. Check online, there are multiple reports every single day of new and almost new Ioniq 5's breaking down with no warning. This happened to me while on a highway with my whole family in the car. Incredibly dangerous and scary for all of us. And then - it took 2 months to get it fixed, and during that time the response from the dealership was TERRIBLE. No updates, no information. Please... look somewhere else for your electric vehicle.

Great vehicle but with Power issues

The Ioniq 5 is a great car to drive for comfort and performance. However, experiencing a power failure and replacement of the ICCU and 12 V battery forces me to choose another vehicle for long trips.

Easily the best driving car I’ve ever owned.

Like I said. It drives great, it’s very smooth. I love the instant torque from electric motors. The only thing I don’t love is o think eco mode has the smoothest driving, it I wish AWD lasted at higher speeds for that. An in between that plowed the AWD to be fully unlocked in eco would be great because for stop and go traffic like dirigible on large roads sport mode feels to jerky.

very happy but concerned. currently in the shop to replace the main battery after 16000 miles and 13 months. Sure it's covered by warranty but will be having to pay for gasoline for a month.
