Drives like a dream. Everything I ever wanted in a car.
Going into my next purchase after a loaded Volvo S60 was a short list of requirements. I wanted something more raised that felt and drove like an SUV. I wanted more interior space. I wanted an EV that would get significantly better MPG equivalent and allow home charging. I also wanted some specific amenities, like cooled seats, wireless apple carplay, enhanced cruise control. The 2026 Ioniq 5 Limited had everything I wanted, and more. Do I worry about a possible ill-timed ICCU failure? Yes, but as time goes on and more and more is learned about the issue my comfort that Hyundai will take care of it promptly in the worst cased scenario grows and grows.
It's a quirky looking car, but that's part of the charm. It screams out " I am an EV", and that's exactly what I wanted.
I drive the dual motor engine almost completely in Eco mode, using various configurations of regenerative braking based on short or long-term driving (basically <> 10 miles). The highest regenerative braking works best in around town, low-speed situations. On highways I eiher use CC or lower the setting to allow more natural gliding when there isn't much traffic. The adaptive cruise control works amazing on highways, even in bumper-to-bumper traffic (where it basically drives itself within a single lane on designated stretches of road).
After almost 3k miles I am completely satisfied with my purchase, with the value, and with this being an easy 7-10 year car for me.
