A great daily EV.

I love how quick the SEL model is. I have unfortunately never had the opportunity to charge the claimed fast charge time and percentage as neither Electrify America nor Tesla was able to get the DC up to claimed. I miss my heated steering wheel, but I love the addition of the rear wiper. It was the biggest complaint for me from my 2024 SEL Ioniq 5. I did notice that the 2026 Ioniq 5 is not as quiet my my 2024 model, but I guess thats cost-cutting for you. I also noticed that my windows condensate on the interior, as well as on the exterior during inclement weather, which leads me to wonder if there is an issue with regards to seals.

Dalton Dealer Pulls a Bait and Switch

We fell in love with the Ioniq 5 Limited in Blue with light grey interior. We couldn't find one in Arizona, where we live, so we searched the southwest and found one at Dalton in San Diego. We negotiated a deal on a specific VIN , signed all the paperwork and arranged for shipping. The car we received was an older demo unit with 69 miles on it and a black interior, not they grey we agreed to! We hadn't noticed that they had pulled the bait and switch when we signed all the paperwork to close the deal by the end of February. We tried to settle the Bait and switch claim with Sales Managers at Dalton, but the reasonable request of $500 compensation, was ignored. We love everything else about the car, but are surprised and ashamed that Hyundai allows such illegal and unscrupulous practices at its dealers!

Great, but..................

A week or more after picking it up there was an annoying rattle in the rear of the vehicle. It was on the right side of the (if you were facing forward in the passenger side of the from). We took it in. It was attributed to the tailgate. Adjustments were made, that fixed it. We were even shown how two make adjustments to extendable "plugs" (my term), one on each side of the bottom inside edge of the tailgate. This fix lasted about a week before the rattle started again. We tried making adjustments ourselves and have limited success. It keeps re-occuring. We plan to take it in again after we get back from a tour in Scotland. That would be some time in early June '26. If we can't get a permanent fix, we might turn the car (on a 3-year lease) in.

Good drive, frustrating safety features

The drive and comfort is great. The facial recognition to pay attention while wearing prescription glasses is frustrating. The stock Bose sound system could use some help, unexpected that my Kona limited had better sound.

Perfect electric car for larger person!

Researched many electric and hybrid electric vehicles. Tried several that I did not fit in as a 6’2 450 pound man. Ioniq 5 was the first electric vehicle that opened wide enough, and I was able to comfortably fit in. Very nice. Have driven less than 1,000 miles in my first three months of ownership, but have loved them all, so far. High-tech and fun and easy to drive. This 2026 Ioniq 5 replaced my 2018 Subaru Outback, which was my fifth Subaru over many years. Available Subaru electrics were slow to come, and so far do not fit me. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was my first Hyundai, and I was pleasantly surprised and love it, so far. Having a charger included with the car that can be either a Level One or a Level 2 charger was a nice touch. Having a 220 volt outlet installed in my garage for quick Level Two charging was an expense, but is key to my happiness with this electric car. I enthusiastically recommend a 2026 Ioniq 5 so far, especially for a larger person like me.

Nice Exterior, Ugly interior design

I traded in my lovely Kia Sorento 2025 with leather seats and panoramic sunroof for the basic Ionic 5 Standard Range. The change is drastic, but the "fuel savings" really made it worth it. I really like the Ionic’s exterior design, since it looks like a hatchback from the ’80s or ’90s, However, the interior is really ugly; there’s a lot of plastic on the door panels, and fingerprints show up easily, making it look dirty or greasy. You have to be constantly cleaning it. The center console is horrible; I’ve never seen anything so ugly, and that’s even though they improved it compared to the 2024 model. The spot where you’re supposed to charge your phone is basically unusable because when the sun’s rays hit the phone, it overheats and shuts down, so I have to remove it from there and hide it somewhere else where the sun doesn’t hit it directly. that center console is a joke—who was the genius who designed it? There isn’t enough space to store things—just a small tray with a lid that barely fits my wallet and car keys. Everything else I have to practically throw into the bottom section, which is completely open. All of this is a problem because it leaves my personal items exposed and unprotected when I leave the car at valet parking or when it’s in for service. The glove box doesn’t have a lock either. The base model doesn’t have a wireless cell phone charging option, nor does it have air conditioning vents in the rear seats. I got $3000 rebate, Zero down payment and 0% APR x 72 month (with tier 1 credit) but the dealer under valued my Kia (of course) paying $634 monthly. I financed around $45k (too much for this) and with just 200 miles I got an estimate from Carvana for just $25,000, so I am loosing $20k immediately. "But I am saving GAS" hahaha.
