Sleek, attractive, comfortable to drive

Every aspect of the car is good. However, there are few things that can be improved: 1) lane watch, steering control response is slow compared to Honda odyssey I have. 2) engine is rough when starting in cold, but once warmed up, it is very smooth.

Great mileage and excellent features

The hybrid engine works great and gives 45 mpg in city and more than 50 mpg on freeway when you don’t drive aggressively. The safety features are great and sensitive. However I don’t like the “coffee break” reminder with its tone which is kind of erratic. I haven’t found a way to turn it off. The overall height is bit short for me so have to watch out getting in and out of the vehicle.

lLOVE my Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

Rides smooth, has every feature you could want and the updates from previous years models I have had make it feel like Hyundai is really listening and always improving. I loved my previous Sonata SE’s but this is a whole other level!

Missing features

I drive the 2026 sonata hybrid. I wish the sideview mirrors would auto dim at night just like the center rear view mirror does. Also the 2026 model no longer has the homelink feature to open my garage door so I have to keep the remote in the car and there is no good place to keep it. And wherever I put it it rattles. Also the EV symbol on the dash is not visible when making a turn as the steering wheel covers it up so I don't know if I am still in EV mode during the turn. I would rather that the heads up display would just change the font color of the EV mode. Green for EV mode and white for gas mode. Then it would never be covered up / blocked by other things in the car. Finally why does the car not auto lock when I walk away from the car? There is a feature where the trunk will open when I walk up it seems like that technology could have been used for the door locks when I walk away. Other than the missing features I love this car. Sunroof is great. The fact that I came see blind spot cameras when turn signal is on is very cool. Lane tracking is very nice! Also love the adaptive cruise.

I find it challenging for older drivers and most dealers are not prepared or equipped to service this population in a way that really provides comfort in knowledge of the vehicle. It's made for younger drivers.

Hyundai Motor Company does not take care of customers

Bought a new 2026 Sonata Hybrid Limited on Feb 7th, went into the shop on Feb 27th for a leak in the panoramic top. Been in the shop 2 1/2 months, they have worked on it 4 times and it's still in the shop as I write this. Worst car I've ever owned. Last Hyundai I'll ever buy. Tried to get them to do a buy back and they turned it down, so guess I'll have to take the next step. Was hoping they would do the right thing.

Overall summary

Just took it for a trip from NJ to Florida. My husband and I were very comfortable either as the driver or the passenger. We were pleasantly surprised at the room it had in it after folding the seats down. Of course the gas range was terrific, especially with the price of gas!
