Nearly perfect vehicle

Only a few slight changes would make this a perfect vehicle. Charges lightning fast, is super roomy inside, and has most amenities one could want.

2024 Ioniq 5

Leased the 2024 Ioniq 5 limited for 2 years. Was satisfied enough to lease a 2026 Ioniq 5 limited for 3 years. A disappointment with the 2026 Ioniq 5 limited is it arrived on day one with the rear view mirror camera was not working. After a month and a half it still has not been fixed and is not working. Have been waiting for a part over 4 weeks.

Comfort and Charging

My Ioniq 5 is a great car. It is very comfortable car for my daily commute. I have also taken my Ioniq 5 on several road trips. The DC fast charging for this car is amazing. There have been times where I plug into the charger and go grab food and it ends up charging past the intended 80% as we took longer eating than it took to charge.

The IIoniq 5 does everything a car should do. It has been trouble free over the first 2 years of ownership with the exception of needing to replace the starter battery.

Nice EV

Overall this is a very nice EV. The ride is firm (and aggravates my wife’s pain from her past spinal fractures), so much so that we changed the wheels and tires to provide a softer ride, albeit at very slightly worse economy. Also we find the passenger seat low and are unable to raise it as high as we would like.I love the autopedal, and wish that it could be pre-selected by default. We have not been able to make Apple CarPlay work over Blutooth but it works OK over the wired connection. We had 12V battery and battery charging issues in the first year, and had to have both a new battery and a new charging control unit. These are very minor gripes. We love the interior flat floor in front of the front seats, a very useful bit of design.

Almost perfect in every way

I cannot say how much I love my car and is without a doubt my favorite car I’ve ever had. My only check against it was when it left me stranded in a snowstorm in downtown Minneapolis due to the failed ICCU. I was without it for close to a month and that was frustrating. I also never was able to get the free NACS adapter after many months and calls of trying. I don’t know where the disconnect was but I was repeatedly told it’d be sent to me and it never arrived. I finally gave up in frustration.

Wish I could give it a zero

This vehicle is awful - completely stopped working mid driving and the company response was absolute horrible! Less than 10k miles and a catastrophic failure is unacceptable.

Love My Ioniq 5......except!

The Ioniq is great. Love almost everything about it. It's smooth, comfortable, fast charging and low maintenance. However, there was a defect in the workmanship which I fee the dealership should have taken care of but refused. Since it's only a 2 year lease and the MSRP was $54K, I assumed Hyundai would stand behind their workmanship but they didn't. The service manager said I could pay to have it fixed or wait until the expiration of the lease and just turn it in. That's what I'm doing.

Good vehicle with some quirks

This is our first EV, so there has been a learning curve. Overall the experience has been positive. See the Cons for a list of things I would change. Some of the items I've listed have been addressed in later models.

Hyundai doesn't care about their customers!

So disappointing to lease this fun, reliable, quiet, and quick EV, only to have Hyundai refuse to take responsibility and help remedy a safety flaw in the Michelin tires. Also, I hope the engineer who decided not to include a rear wiper got fired. Once the lease is up, I'll be going straight to their competitors, eager to buy something!
