Comfortable and easy to drive.

This is a comfortable EV that drives almost like a gas powered car, so the learning curve was short. I don’t like that I can’t control some of the warnings, alerts, and reminders - either through the app or the car. Also, the map isn’t all that accurate when locating a charging station. It’s mislead me multiple times.

Battery issues

I had the PCU replaced 4 mouths after I got the vehicle. 4 months later I had warning issue and it took a few dealerships visits to find the problem. They found a bad 12volt battery and replaced it. 8 months later I had a problem starting the car. Brought it in and again had a bad 12 volt battery which they replaced. A new PCU and 2-12 volt batteries in 16 months. I feel there is something wrong with the charging system, but am told everything is checking out ok

Over priced and over designed

The car has a lot of bells and whistles but is an average drive. Poor performance on uneven roads, too big, massive blind spots, melts under normal wear.

Great Car - When it works

When this car works, it's my favorite car that I've ever owned. It's quiet, comfortable, and efficient. Easily a 5/5 star car. However, it is also by far the least reliable car I've ever owned. Over the past 11 months, I've had it to the shop for many things - nonfunctional GPS, not working charger, ICCU failure, and now a complete battery failure. The ICCU failure took weeks to fix. My car is currently at a Hyundai dealer and I'll have it back in 4-12 weeks.

It is a wonderful vehicle.

Our Ioniq has been everything we expected and more. It is as luxurious as our BMW and even faster. It has been flawless in two years of driving it. We consistently get north of 300 miles per charge and everything just works.

Ionic5 - mostly a great car

Great car, quiet, good range, quick to charge. It NEEDs a front camera. In the future I will not buy a car that does not have a front camera.

Good ride, some shortcomings

The car drives well. The scheduled charging is not always working. Otherwise plug and charge is great. Iccu failed once. The range is excellent.

2025 IONIQ 5 LTD

Absolutely the best car I've ever had. I'm 87 and have had a car since I was 17. But, and this is a big one, I am absolutely appalled that Hyundai hasn't fixed the ICCU (? think that's what it's called) that controls charging the 12 vdc battery from the main traction battery. The car left me stranded after having it for only 6 months when the 12 v battery died. Hyundai replaced the battery at no charge (thank you for that) and sent me home. From what I've been able to find out this has been going on for several years and it's entirely possible the problem could happen again. If fact I'm now getting a message saying the battery is discharging due to external electrical devices - whatever that means. So how do I feel comfortable taking the car on a trip knowing that the battery may fail again and leave me stranded. NOT GOOD! Why doesn't Hyundai just fix and replace the ICCU, if that's what the problem is. Apparently this issue has been known for several years and Hyundai made a fix, but why didn't they recall all the cars that may have the problem and fix them. Come on folks, this is not how you keep happy customers. Lexus would never allow something like this to continue. My IONIQ is a short term lease and I would hope to replace it with another Hyundai EV but not if I can't have more confidence in Hyundai to fix known problems.
