A great car with some caveats

First, let me say I like this car a lot. It’s comfortable; it’s fun to drive; it requires little maintenance and I feel safe in it. All winners, right? I gave it 4 stars because after driving it for 13 months without a sniff of difficulty, it stopped working while I was in the Colorado mountains on a daylong fishing trip. The 12 V battery had suddenly failed. I had it towed to a dealership who took 3 days to tell me what was wrong. . . the 12 V battery stopped working. They replaced it and I drove home. Why it failed no one knows. Could it happen again. . . Yes. I live with the uncertainty. I have a Quiklynks Battery Monitor 2 hooked up and so far everything is behaving as it should (ICCU etc). So . . . that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Electric gem

Overall good experience (after dealers tried to cheat us during purchase.) Fun to drive past gas stations. No oil changes, radiator flushes, spark plug changes, etc. Drives very well if a bit stiff suspension...all dips and abnormalities in pavement are very noticeable and not absorbed by the suspension. Not a particularly good highway car...quick steering requires a lot of attention to stay in center of lane. Recommended tire pressures seem high and contribute to stiff ride. Excellent car for errands and around-town driving. Car has unexplained vibration in front suspension at about 69-75mph.

IONIQ 5 - DRIVING ON SUNSHINE

I call this car my “Forever Car” because it drives easily and is a comfortable ride. I love the safe driving features, the comfy seats and seat warmers, easy to keep clean inside and out. The pick up speed is fantastic when getting on the highway and getting in the flow of traffic or passing slower moving vehicles. (One feature I would change are those pop out door handles. The doors are hefty and I wonder if they might weaken and pull off eventually. Also they signal that the entire car is unlocked which is not a good thing when in an unknown place, but this is not a regular thing for me and this is a very minor complaint compared to all the other benefits of this car.) Honestly I’m still learning about all it can do. I haven’t been to a gas station since I got it which makes me feel on top of the world, and if this battery lasts a long time I will feel better about my contribution to the health of the planet.

Great Car, Not Just Great EV

We really enjoy our IONIQ 5. It is designed very well, comfortable, fun, easy to charge. We constantly recommend it to friends and colleagues. The only negatives have to do with the glacial corporate response to changes requested by owners and the less than complete vehicle knowledge at the dealers (sales and service).

Fine vehicle. Do object to the fees for Bluelink. The controls for the climate etc are too close together. Am constantly turning on the "auto" button mistakenly.

Wonderful car, my second Ioniq 5.

Smooth, quiet, and comfortable, and exceedingly quick((AWD version).I’ve taken it on a 1200 mile road trip, and it’s great on the road. Blind spot system is great, warning you early if a fast mover is overtaking you and WILL be in your blind spot, but isn’t yet! Has a few nice touches that my ‘22 Limited does not, plus slightly bigger battery.

Perfectly balanced design for an everyday excellent ride

The Ioniq 5 is a great car. It drives well, carries passengers in comfort, and has decent space and decent range. The control system has been thoughtfully designed using both analog and design elements. Having buttons for functions is very practical

My limited I5

The car has been great to drive, battery range is better than advertised, the interior is very comfortable and roomy. The only downside is the iccu issue and the dealership service experience.

Meh

The car is fine. Fewer storage options than my smaller Kona. Finally got the big battery replaced after numerous complaints about poor battery performance.

Good car, but has its flaws

The car is nice and smooth and fun to drive. But it has some flaws. Tires are too hard, looses traction when stopping in the rain way too easy. The interior has a good design, but way too many hard plastics that are hard to clean, especially on the door panels. The trunk has rattled since it had about 2000 miles on it and four trips to the dealership to see if they can fix it and they still haven't figured it out. It sometimes loses power when accelerating around and taking a turn. Reliability had been a plus until last week when some sort of ICB blew and I had to have it towed to a dealership and it left me stranded. Mi/kw gauge lies. Poor windshield wipers from the factory.

Very Nearly Ideal

This is my third IONIQ 5, and I continue to adore its design and performance. One caveat: my second IONIQ 5 suffered from a faulty strut new the read door hinge that causes pops and cracks especially prevalent while driving over rough terrain. My current car has started to exhibit the same problem. It's hard to imagine that this problem is continuing!

Great car. I only wish, a little bit, that got the Ioniq 5 NON XRT.

Great car, built and dives Better than the 2021 Tesla Model 3 we had and much quieter. I only wish, just a tiny bit, that I bought the SEL model or the Limited......Only because it gets more miles per kWh.

I love this car so much I got it twice

I originally leased this car and got a good deal because it was a special on a short lease. I was sad after my one year lease ended because I loved my first fully electric beautiful small SUV. I replaced it with a new lease on the next year's model of the exact same car, even got the same color. This car is gorgeous and it drives like a dream!
