I love this vehicle!! I loved the 2022 but it really did need a rear wiper but that has now been addressed.

2025 LEASE

Overall good car, space is better than most its size. A lot of tech, took some getting used too and we still do not use all of it. Internal wifi and our phones dont get a long. Safety features are overpowered at times and can easily cause more of a problem than intended.

My first Hyundai

This was my first Hyundai and also my first EV. I really love the car enjoy driving it. It’s a lot of fun to drive and loved the one pedal driving. It’s very smooth powerful but you can do better when it comes to power I believe, but still sufficient mine was the SEL there is really nothing negative to say about the car the only thing well maybe a couple of things comfort is pretty decent driving around town but for a long trips like greater than an hour or more, the seats are not the best. Also, this trim level did not have any ambient lighting and I would think for a mid grade trim. You should get some ambient lighting, but it had zero. The range was decent, but no matter how hard I tried I could never reach the estimated range I averaged 3.6 miles/ kilowatt hours and driving within the city running errands. I was averaging between 3.9 and 4.5 mi./ kilowatt hours charging is fast but not as fast as reported 10 to 80% usually would take a good half hour. Love all the features smart cruise and lane keep assist was amazing and the car is very smooth. I would have given it a five out of five if it wasn’t for the comfort piece and the ambient lighting great job Hyundai I would consider another Hyundai matter fact I looked for the ionic nine but was not able to get the trim level that I was looking for which was the performance calligraphy addition and I’ve asked around dealerships and waited and waited with no luck so I had to go with a different electric vehicle but likely will try again once this lease is over and hopefully I can at least test drive an ionic nine calligraphy edition!

IONIQ5 Nice car with only a couple of issues

The car rides well and is nice to drive. There are only two issues that I would like to see changed. The car should default, or remember the setting for one pedal driving and maximum regeneration in the driver settings. (Maybe it is called IMAX)? You currently have to set this feature each time you drive. The second thing is more of a security issue. I do not like that the handles are out when the car is unlocked. It is a visual indication of an unlocked vehicle and if I forget to lock it for some reason I am sure it greatly increases the risk of someone breaking in to the vehicle.

Fun ride but reliability is a challenge

While I really have enjoyed driving the 2025 Ioniq 5, I am very concerned about the reliability (both mid-term and especially long-term) of the vehicle. With less than 2 years of minor to moderate driving, I have personally had issues with the 12v battery suddenly dying causing the entire vehicle to both not start up or have the ability to charge (even with the main battery above 30% threshold), I have a close friend who's Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) has blown out rendering the entire vehicle inoperable and had to be towed, and I have driven from DC to Chicago in winter and gotten a paltry 110 miles per full charge making it a challenging vehicle for road trips unless you're doing it at the perfect time period. I do also have an issue with the back/passenger area not getting enough ventilation which again made trips challenging with teens/adults in the back as the only option to get air back there is to blast the vent/AC (I've read about others having this issue) That being said the drive itself has been great, but as you can see these are pretty significant concerns that are holding me back from a much higher rating.

Fantastic car, lack of spare tire annoying

The car is great! After owning this one I will always prefer an EV. The interior is beautiful and comfortable. The car has great power and the electronic safety features are appreciated. My small gripes are some of the interior controls are too small and/or their daytime lighting is too dim making it hard to glance quickly at the dash and make a change. My bigger gripe is the lack of a spare tire. We ran over something on the interstate. The puncture was too large for the compressor and sealant to fix so we lost hours getting the car towed, finding a tire shop with a similar tire and getting the tire replaced. All cars should be required to have a spare tire, in my opinion.

Great EV Option

This has been a great vehicle, I wasn't fully convinced after owning a Tesla Y from 2020 - 2025, but this car is much more comfortable and quiet. I have truly enjoyed this car.

Nice vehicle with almost no complaint

Only complaint is the loop used to pull up the cover for the rear storage area. It tends to separate and fall under the cover. Everything else has been fantastic.
