Great car

Overall I'm happy with the car. It drives well and is fairly comfortable for driving around town, which is why we got it. Lots of bells and whistles in the base model. We're leasing it to see if an all electric vehicle works with our lifestyle. However, they need to adjust the constant warnings. Very annoying. The voice activated AI is not very smart.

Steering Issues with 2026 Limited vs 2024 Limited - About to Sell It

I purchased this vehicle new in March of 2026 after a successful 2yr lease on a 2024. Since day one, I have had a persistent pull to the right, almost as if the steering it loose or miscalibrated. So much so that at 400 miles I needed an alignment, never had that issue with a new car. As the issue persisted, I continued to bring the car in for service and for them to say nothing is wrong. I had a 2024 limited for 2 years, if this issue is "normal" then the way the 2026 drives far inferior to my 2024. I have started a claim with Hyundai, the vehicle has 2000 miles on it, if not resolved I will be selling it as I do not want to own a vehicle that drives this way. Outside of that, the car has mostly been great, would hate to have to sell it.

EV is the way to go!

Quite impressed. I resisted the EV push for some time but thought I would jump in. My wife drives 35 miles round trip every day and I work from home. Her vehicle (Palisade) was getting miles on it so decided to sell my 2023 Santa Fe and get the Ioniq 5. I wasn't sold on it until I drove and saw the amount of space. All the bells & whistles are a plus but my main reasoning was fuel.

I love Hyundai brand regardless. I wasn't aware during purchase of the vehicle that the trunk requires to be open and close manually. I would have go for a different car if it was disclosed. I haven't driven an SUV car the truck opens/closes manually, until this car.

The display in the centre, which has temperature readings, etc is incredibly bad Virtually impossible to read and no way to increase the brightness The blue link app occasionally has incredible delays before representing what is actually happening to the car. Typically resolved if I bring my phone very close to the vehicle.

Cannot use cruise control if wearing sunglasses

I love almost everything about my Ioniq 5 but where it fails it goes big. I literally cannot wear sunglasses and use cruise control. The nanny camera doesn’t detect my eyes, and gives increasingly shrill alarms that I need to watch the road. To the point where it’s actually a safety issue.

Review

Need a longer range battery, brakes aren’t great, windshield wipers not the best quality. Ampure charger that came with vehicle needs improvement. It’s malfunctioned twice in 4 months and it’s slow, 24amp, only charges 5.7kwh.

Could use better tech and cusitmization. Not worth the SEL price jsut stick with the lowest trim level

It is great but …

It is a great car. I enjoy driving it and riding in it. However, the back seats need better air flow. With the hot weather in California, my passengers in the back complain about not getting enough cool air in the back.
