Excellent car with anoying quirks

This is an outstanding vehicle that possesses more leg room than the largest of vehicles. It performs great but there are some annoyances that make me scratch my head: 1. The center console cell phone charger gets the rear of the phone hot enough to burn me; especially if I have the magnetic ring on the case 2. Lane change warning sounds cannot be disabled even if you disable them. 3. My wife owns the same model but a year earlier and her mirrors tilt for reverse, mine do not 4. From collision warning sounds remain on when you disable them 5. The vehicle iPedal has to be reenabled every time I restart the vehicle or after placing in reverse. There should be a setting that allows you to always keep it on 6. Auto door locks have been disabled by the manufacturer. Why?? If I pass by the car, it unlocks and then locks when I am out of range, but such does not happen if I open the door and then close the door. It has to be manually locked. 7. The response to auto unlock my door when I am near the handle is absolute random. Most of the time I could use a key to unlock the door faster that it senses my hand on or over the handle. Other times I pass it in my driveway and it unlocks with me three feet from the car. 8. The front left corner of the center console should be rounded to prevent poking into the leg

Great car overall but not without some small concerns

Interior, exterior styling and driving feel, features, overall design all great! My car ended up having some red grease coming out from under the right front door near plastic trim a few days after buying the car then seems to have stopped on it's own. Car paint seems to hold onto water marks and seems to be a critical flaw which I'm addressing with my local dealer. Rear glass upper part seems to stay dirty the fastest since rain and most touchless car washes don't get up in that tight angle... Door armrest soft material seems to get dirty very easily... Driving at highway speeds and cornering seems very stable/safe/comfortable. Highway Driving Assist cruise control system has some flaws - camera facing driver face sometimes inaccurately says that my eyes and head not facing road in front of the car... seems like head needs to be within a small range to be considered acceptable. I had thought that a hitch receiver from Hyundai would be ava but according to dealer - it's only for previous years of the Ioniq 5... Another strange thing is that the seatbelts often seem to get angled incorrectly/twisted more often than other cars I've owned prior... not sure why...so it's an extra thing I need to be conscious of keeping straight and tidy. OTA update system and other electronics all work very well. Would be nice if all trims came with Digital Key or if it was an easy cheap option for Dealer to add. Overall it's a great car and I do recommend.

Excellent EV for Commuting, Comfort, and Fast Charging

I purchased a 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 SEL RWD and have been very pleased with it so far. I drive approximately 25,000 miles per year, including a regular freeway commute, so efficiency, comfort, range, and charging speed were major considerations for me. The IONIQ 5 has done an excellent job in all of those areas. The ride is comfortable and quiet, and the interior has plenty of room, especially for a taller driver. Acceleration is smooth and more than adequate for everyday driving and freeway merging. I also really appreciate the fast-charging capability. Being able to add a substantial amount of range during a relatively short DC fast-charging stop makes the vehicle much easier to live with on longer trips. The SEL offers a very good balance of features and price. The interior is spacious and practical, visibility is good, and the overall design still stands out without being overly complicated. I also like having the flexibility to charge inexpensively at work and at home rather than relying entirely on public charging. There are still a few areas Hyundai could improve. Some controls and vehicle settings take time to learn, and I would like even more flexibility in how certain driver-assistance and charging settings are configured. I also wish some features offered on higher trims were available individually on the SEL rather than requiring an upgrade to a much more expensive trim. Overall, the IONIQ 5 has been an excellent daily driver and one of the best vehicles I have owned for commuting. I would recommend it to someone looking for a comfortable, spacious, efficient EV with excellent fast-charging capability.

Ioniq 5 2026

Like most every feature of the car (mileage, ease of charging, seat structure, apps, acceleration and breaking, and I am getting used to the relatively bland styling), except the invasive road noise at speeds above 30miles/hr. on the highway or freeway. The road noise is excessive and the suspension transfers every rough road sensation to the passengers both audibly and in the bounce and sway of the vehicle. I recongnize that sound deadining insulation, highend finish materials, and superior suspension may have been minimalized in order to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle to maximize the distance the vehicle can travel between charges. However, I would gladly trade some milage gained using lighter materials for a less harsh ride and better sound attenuation.

Great car

Overall I'm happy with the car. It drives well and is fairly comfortable for driving around town, which is why we got it. Lots of bells and whistles in the base model. We're leasing it to see if an all electric vehicle works with our lifestyle. However, they need to adjust the constant warnings. Very annoying. The voice activated AI is not very smart.

Steering Issues with 2026 Limited vs 2024 Limited - About to Sell It

I purchased this vehicle new in March of 2026 after a successful 2yr lease on a 2024. Since day one, I have had a persistent pull to the right, almost as if the steering it loose or miscalibrated. So much so that at 400 miles I needed an alignment, never had that issue with a new car. As the issue persisted, I continued to bring the car in for service and for them to say nothing is wrong. I had a 2024 limited for 2 years, if this issue is "normal" then the way the 2026 drives far inferior to my 2024. I have started a claim with Hyundai, the vehicle has 2000 miles on it, if not resolved I will be selling it as I do not want to own a vehicle that drives this way. Outside of that, the car has mostly been great, would hate to have to sell it.

EV is the way to go!

Quite impressed. I resisted the EV push for some time but thought I would jump in. My wife drives 35 miles round trip every day and I work from home. Her vehicle (Palisade) was getting miles on it so decided to sell my 2023 Santa Fe and get the Ioniq 5. I wasn't sold on it until I drove and saw the amount of space. All the bells & whistles are a plus but my main reasoning was fuel.

I love Hyundai brand regardless. I wasn't aware during purchase of the vehicle that the trunk requires to be open and close manually. I would have go for a different car if it was disclosed. I haven't driven an SUV car the truck opens/closes manually, until this car.
