During your visit the battery in your Santa Fe tested at 440/700 cold cranking amps and also tested poorly in the reserve capacity rating - this tells us a battery failure was imminent. Sometimes batteries in Phoenix can last a couple years, however we think the past 2 summers took its toll on yours and it made sense to replace it before it left you stranded. Every replacement battery comes with a 4 year warranty and at 18 months yours was still mostly covered by that warranty, so it made sense to replace it when we did.
Your brakes are getting close to needing replacement. About 2mm or material remains and this is when we start preparing you to replace them. You may achieve another oil change interval or perhaps even two, but it is best to know it is coming. 40k+ miles is not bad wear for your vehicle and when they are replaced you can expect to achieve that kind of mileage again based on your driving habits and conditions.
Our multi-point inspection has pictures for you which includes the battery test slip, the condition of your brakes an even photos of your tires which will also need attention soon. If you have any questions (or your husband) or are ever 'wary' as you put it, please ask us to show you anything we recommended or that you have concerns about.
