Good EV, Annoying Driver Monitoring System

Overall the Ioniq 5 is pretty good, but there are definitely some areas that need improvement. The remote features are nice - being able to remotely open/close the doors, turn on the AC, and check the battery level is super convenient. My biggest complaint is the distracted driving detection system. It honestly causes more distraction than it prevents. I’ll be fully focused on the road, then suddenly it starts beeping at me for “distracted driving,” which makes me look over at the screen to figure out what’s going on. And the worst part is that it can’t even be turned off. (My car is already updated to the latest software.) Another issue is the proximity unlock. Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes it doesn’t respond at all. Also not sure why Hyundai doesn’t support auto-lock when walking away from the car. Even a simple timeout auto-lock feature would be better than nothing. One more thing: there really should be a delivery checklist when picking up the car. Right now there’s no easy way to know what accessories or included items are supposed to come with the vehicle unless you already did your own research beforehand.

Love it but not perfect

This is my second Ioniq 5, the first was the 2023 model. A couple of things that I have not been able to correct: 1. The AC repeatedly comes on at times when I have windows open and want fresh air. 2. The warning beep for obstacles too close to the car beeps when I am backing into the garage when the obstacles are not going to be hit by the vehicle, and occurs when my 23 model didn’t beep. 3.There is not a setting for lane adherence, simple beeping, without controlling the steering. 4. I would like to have a default setting for i pedal, but I have to reset it every time I drive. And there is no beep to acknowledge the i pedal setting. Over and over I have people ask me what vehicle this is. People admire it.

Great car, horrible dealership experience

The car itself has been great. The range is fantastic, features are incredible, and the ride itself is smooth. It makes for a wonderful road tripper. I love the NACS port; it makes finding chargers easy (as well as having the CCS adapter). Working with the dealership, however, was painful to say the least. This is my second time working with a Hyundai dealer, and probably my last. I needed help with getting Blue link set up and the 220 volt charging cable delivered as promised, and it was absolutely like pulling teeth. I was hung up on, left voicemails that were never returned, etc.

2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 XRT Review

I love the car overall. It is fun, fast, quiet, and comfortable. I am worried about the ICCU issues. This makes me trust the car less. If I had known about these issues before purchase I probably would not have bought it, every though I really like it otherwise. The stereo in the I5 is not good enough. It sounds pretty bad compared to many other vehicles I have owned.

the missing links on a 2026 IQ 5 sel

2026 IQ5 sel, buy carefully. To have a professional install a hitch ($440 and $800 for labor) is a deal breaker , yet no one in sales mentioned that info. The whole back side has to be removed with extreme care to install a hitch. The design of the SEL prevents any hanging bike hitch on the market to be used instead of a hitch. Interior colors of black should be banned since it shows every particle of dirt. The windshield wiper blades require far more effort to change. And if a bike rack hanging, is later developed, the rear wiper becomes a problem. Storage room is minimal, and most is easily visable from the outside. Overall the car is a joy to drive and it's ability to accelerate when merging on to a freeway is great ..Fix the hitch, the storage and the unreliable "miles left" indicator and the car would get 9s plus..

A very good automobile, however not perfect!

The designers have thought of many features, especially in the 2026 IONIQ 5 Limited version. However, there are some issues that I have with it: 1) When any automobile other than IONIQ 5 is left unlocked (either intentional or unintentional), a passerby will not notice the doors are left unlocked. IONIQ 5 practically yells that the doors are unlocked and advertises to all with good or bad intentions that the doors are unlocked. 2) Although I like the new NAC charging plug very much due to its lightweight and easy handling. The position of the plug on the right (non-driver side) is a big mistake. As of today, the NAC plugs have a very short cable, and 99% of the charging stations with MAC are Tesla. In many occasions, I had to wait for some time to park in a right stall so that I can charge, and by doing so, I have welcomed the anger and frustration of the Tesla automobile owners. If all possible, I suggest placing the charging plug in the middle of the front or back of the car (around the front or rear view camera).

Ioniq 5 has everything I need

I had previously owned a 2024 Ioniq 5. Unfortunately, I was rear ended and the car was totaled. When I was thinking about what vehicle to replace it with, I realized the Ioniq 5 had everything I needed and there was no reason to look further. So I purchased the 2026 model which has some additional features which makes me appreciate it even more.

Good value for for a very nice EV

The car is comfortable and handles well. Seats are a 9 out of ten comfort level for us. It also regularly exceeds advertised miles per KWH. It has plenty of cargo area and is generally spacious for driver and passengers. I think the Hyundai design team did an excellent job of combining form and function. the infotainment and climate system has a nice mix of analog and digital controls. We have few complaints, but we still need to list them. Vehicle diagnostics and Hyundai tech are still below average. Our digital mirror worked for a month, stopped functioning and after 2 attempts at fixing, has yet to be repaired. The infotainment sound quality, even with the premium sound system sound quality is sub par. The radio reception is poor (same with our old KIA Niro EV). Last one - the lane assist dithers (wanders) too much to be of much use except for straight stretches of multi lane highway.

Great car and much cheaper to run than a gas vehicle.

This is my 4th EV and I much prefer it over my last 2. It runs well and charges very quickly. I do wish it had a towing option and better range but otherwise I am satisfied with it.
