Good ev

Very good looking vehicle with ok range. Have had it for about 4 months and 6k miles. It has been a pretty good ride so far. The look of the car is what ultimately made me buy it and I was also looking for an ev. I believe Hyundai have the best looking evs on the market. They do offer more features than their competitors and the charging speed is great. It takes about 20-25 min to get me back to 80% from 10-20% because most of the time the charger isn’t giving me the full 350k. Really fun car to drive and it’s really smooth. Although, if you like music the speakers are pretty bad. You have to crank it almost to max to get a good kick from the speakers and I got the limited which should have the “premium sound system.” The car rattles sometimes when I’m driving and it can be pretty distracting. I thought I left something in the back but then I realised it’s just the car. The range can be better. Comparing it to its competitors the 84 kWh battery it has is in the middle. If you don’t drive much this car will do the trick, but if you drive a lot like me you’re plugging it at least twice a week and if you don’t have access to a lvl 2 charger it can quickly add up and feel like you’re paying for gas when using primarily fast chargers. The turn radius also is pretty poor and I wish it would do at least another half turn after cranking all the way so trying to fit in a tight spot is more challenging. Finally to address the elephant in the room the iccu. Fortunately for me I have not had any issues but I was plagued with anxiety when I saw online how many people had this issue. I hope I never run into this problem and if I do I hope Hyundai does a good job of taking care of it. This is my first Hyundai I have ever purchased, and could potentially be my last if the iccu ever goes out, so I can’t really vouch for the reliability of the car long term. But so far at 6k miles it has been great and have had no problems with the vehicle.

First 5000 Miles of 2026 Ioniq 5 Limited

We are 1st time EV owners and 1st time Hyundai customers. We have been very impressed with the vehicle and the manufacturer's input to the design and engineering. We have less-than-impressed with the dealer, but since we have no prior experience with Hyundai dealers, they may be as good as they get. The strengths of the vehicle outweigh the shortcomings of the dealer.

I love the fast charging and the internal styling!

I found fast chargers faster than Tesla, which only charges at 325 or 350 Watts. There are 400 W chargers out there. You can barely finish your milkshake before the car is charged.

Great car, no significant complaints

Overall the car is great. My biggiest issue is that I cannot use the wireless charging pad as it causes my phone to overheat quickly. So it remains unused and I have to plug my phone in to charge. My only minor issue is that the frunk is small.

Hyundai Ionic 5 SEL vs Tesla Y

I recently sold my 2023 Tesla Model Y and purchased this 2026 Hyundai Ionic 5 SEL. I find almost every feature to be equal to or better than the Tesla, at a significantly lower cost. Ride quality, seat comfort, visibility, performance, interior quality, controls, and mileage are all better! If you nit-pick, I miss having mirrors that retract for car washes and memory seats. It would be nice to be able to add these as options to the SEL, without having to go to the upgrade and more expense.

Makes driving fun again

Quiet, smooth ride. Great acceleration. Automation works very well. Downside is the inclusion of the large sunroof. Wanted the all the other features except that one. Makes the cabin much hotter and have never used one in Arizona. Look forward to driving for many years and eager to see how the range is during the fall and winter months. Voted down comfort by one point as the seats are narrow and quite warm requiring the use of seat cooling. Also, when AC is in auto any change resets to fresh air from recirculating. When it is 105+ degrees this is annoying.

Great car, but....

I love everything about the 2026 Ioniq 5 except the fact that with the charging port on the passenger side it does not line up with the Telsa DC supercharger fast charge stations. The only option is to take up two charging spots at the station which seems to upset the Tesla drivers who are also wanting to charge. Hyundai needs to make an extension cable approved for DC fast charge available. Otherwise it is an exceptional vehicle.

Got this car after my other car was totaled. It was good impetus to finally make the move to an EV. I am extremely happy with the car, down with ICE vehicles!
