Don't Be Fooled by the High Ratings

The "independent" rating agencies gave the 2024 Palisade high marks compared to the domestic competition (such as the Explorer and the Tahoe) so we decided to step out of our "buy American" comfort zone and give it a try. Eighteen months later, we regret that decision. We have experienced dangerous breaking failures (ABS) and very poor perfomance when driving on unimproved roads. Hyundai did address the breaking problem but have not addressed other major and well publizised problems such as seat belts and a dangerous 3rd row seat issue.

2024 Palisade Caligraphy

Overall, the car is not bad—it is comfortable and has plenty of space. However, I am extremely frustrated with the ongoing issue with the rear shock absorbers. They keep failing repeatedly, almost every month, for no clear reason. Because of this, there is a constant knocking/tapping noise coming from the rear of the vehicle at low speeds and while turning. The service center has already replaced the shocks three or four times, but the problem keeps coming back, and they have not been able to offer any real solution beyond replacing the same parts again. This is very disappointing and honestly unacceptable, especially for a vehicle that costs over $50,000. I expected a much higher level of quality and reliability at this price point. Instead, I am now dealing with a recurring unresolved issue and feel stuck with a car that I will likely have to keep for another couple of years.

I love my palisade but tired of all the recalls and then no parts to fix them. This is my 7th Hyundai and probably my last.

The good, the bad, the ugly

Generally it drives well. Frequent software glitches. Body paint is of poor quality and breaking away. Rear/trunk door latch is breaking. Windshield wiper fluid tank is broken. Terrible customer service in general no matter who I have worked/talked to (corporate and dealership). Poor communication and follow up. Missing broken items during maintenance.

Wonderful car

We have had our Palisade for 2 1/2 years and have really enjoyed the car. One of the main reasons we bought our Palisade is because of the adjustability of the passenger seat. Our previous car, a Honda Pilot, didn't have an adjustable passenger seat and my wife's back would just kill her on long drives--not with this car. We have also noticed how much quieter this car is and how much better it rides than the Pilot.

Very enjoyable to drive but

Don't like the solid lifters or the engine oil canister, for the size of the oil filter too small. Like the fact that it's not turbocharged, it has plenty of power. The tram around the doors feels cheap.
