Fast, tech-packed truck held back by shaky transmission, cheap feel

This truck surprised me with its speed and the variety of drive modes, but the transmission is my biggest concern—it sometimes feels like it’s slipping, and once it seemed to fall out of gear on the interstate. Fuel economy is average and falls short of the sticker estimate. The tech is impressive, though the integrated charger is finicky. Interior design looks nice, but materials feel cheap for a $42K vehicle. The warranty is a plus, yet my service experiences with local dealerships have been frustrating. I like the integrated bed cover, tie-down points, and storage compartment, though the cover storage takes up a lot of bed space. The stereo sounds great and Apple CarPlay works well, though it’s not wireless. Driver assists like cruise control, auto steering, and lane keeping are excellent. Rear seats are uncomfortably upright for long trips. Overall, this is a fun, quick truck that works well for small projects and errands, but I question its durability.

It has style and comfort for my me and my family. Just the right size.

The size really fits me for what I use it for. I have moved a lot of household furniture and supplies for working in the yard. My only regret is that the rear seats do not fold down to better utilize the bed space. It completely comfortable when traveling on long family trips.

Oil change cover got stripped out by Hyundai want to charge to fix it

Have full warranty, take the car to dealership over two hours away for oil change and warranty service but they stripped bolts on my skid plate and want to charge to fix it even though they did it. No my car rattles. Not happy at all about that. Already had to replace sensor for thermostat yet car was at around 25,000 miles.

2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz is a great vehicle.

The 2023 Sant Cruz is a great vehicle if you don't need a full-size pickup. The transmission is the only item on the vehicle I don't care for. The transmission needs to be either a standard or a true automatic.

Love the look and features of the vehicle, but comfort is lacking.

The size as a compact, appearance and features is great. The design is in other areas is lacking. The seating is car-type seating and not SUV and it is made worse by the headrest jutting out too far forward, that I have to lay my seat backwards to not have the headrest pinching my neck. Seat is also laying in a tub instead of a flat floor so it just accentuates the car-like seating. The inside fuse box is inaccessible without dismantling the lower knee dashboard. Disappointed in the voice commands as I have the Limited and found out only 1/2 of the voice commands apply to my vehicle - that was a main item on my list. Otherwise everything is placed well and looks great.

Poor quality. Poor materials. Poor engine. Transmission is jerky. Tech is unreliable. No Longevity. Not a 100,000 mile vehicle for well over $40,000.

Great little truck. I love it.

Drives great. I have only a few minor complaints. Front passenger seat should also be power on limited edition. Lock sound needs to be A LOT louder. Middle of back seat should be extra useful by folding down and having cup holder or extra storage. There's also no sunglass compartment?

Solid 1st attempt. Needs an electrified version badly.

Even in the Limited trim that I have, it lacks featues that other cars in Hyundai's portfolio has, like memory seats. Fuel mileage is subpar for a turbo 4cyl. with less than 300hp, (I get 22.5mpg in mixed driving, barely 24 on the highway.) People want to speak poorly about the dual-clutch transmission, but the only issue I have is it feels a bit unstable at slow speeds. That's a non-issue now in the '26. Overall I like the size. The bed is plenty big enough for my needs. It's also very comfortable. Long trips are effortless and not fatiguing in the slightest.

Misses the Touch Down by Inches

The entertainment center has to be reestablished every time...every time the vehicle is restrated. Its a simple fix that Hyundai refuses to correct.
