Good tech, bad fuel economy

This vehicle has nice finishes and the tech stack is quite comprehensive for the price. The heated and cooled seats are very nice. Great design for the center console, charge pad and cup holders. Wireless Apple car play works consistently. The transmission, however, feels sluggish and does not want to take advantage of the hybrid drivetrain. I have to actively manage keeping the vehicle in EV mode or use the throttle to get it to shift out of high RPMs. Unfortunately, after only 2000 miles I already have an issue with the moon roof not opening.

First three months

This is my wife’s car although I drive it more than her. I am quite impressed with all the features including the ride and above all the gas mileage is very good. What I haven’t mastered is all the display features and I can’t seem to find the right videos for explanations.

Stranded because the vehical had an electrical issue

I was driving on Interstate 70 and was caught in a blizzard exiting the Eisnenhower tunnel. The car handled great going down the mountain in a blizzard and I was able to safely get to my hotel that day. 2 hours after I had unpacked the car and was heading to a resturant, a warning light appeared stating there was an electical problem. I called a dealership 50 miles away to find out what I should do. The advice was I could drive the car if I felt confortable doing so. On the way to the resturant (1.6 miles away) I stopped for a stop sign and the car would not move. Finally, I turned off the car and then started it again and pulled into a parking lot--again I called the dealership and was told to go to the resturant and let the car sit while I ate my dinner.. I barely made it back to my hotel. And roadside assistance set up a tow truck to take the car to the nearest dealership 50 miles away the next day. I had called the dealership, to let them know the car was coming but they never set up an appointment so when I got there they told me they could not look at the car until the next day. I had to rent a car so I could make it to my meeting in Las Vagus on time. When the dealership finally looked at the car they could not find anything wrong, except for the expired error code. So basically, since they couln't tell what caused the problem, it could happen again. The reason I purchased the car was because I wanted reliable transportation as I will be putting on a lot of miles this year traveling to various meetings.

Irritants

I really like my 2026 Tucson except for a couple of irritants - first is that the brakes don't always release after I have put on my seatbelt and selected "Drive or Reverse." If it doesn't release, I put car into park, then select D or R - normally that will release the brakes. ALSO - the indicator lights on the "environmental" panel are too dim and as far as I can tell there is no way to make them brighter. I am talking about the three small indicator lighs in the "auto" button, the lights for the seat heater/cooler, the steering wheel heat light, etc. If you are in sunshine they are impossible and even shading them makes it difficult and something you don't want to do while driving. They are okay at night but most of my driving is in the daytime.

GREAT! But there is a MAJOR issue that was not disclosed on purchase.

I genuinely enjoy many aspects of the 2026 Tucson, the styling, comfort, technology, and overall driving experience are excellent. However, there is a serious safety concern that should have been disclosed prior to purchase. The vehicle has experienced phantom braking issues, where the automatic braking system activates unexpectedly without any obstacle present. This creates an extremely dangerous situation, especially at highway speeds, and appears to be a widespread issue that has already resulted in reports of accidents and even class action litigation. Hyundai needs to address this problem immediately through a proper fix or recall. Until then, buyers should be fully aware of the potential safety risks before purchasing.

Love the cars handling and pickup when accelerating.comfortable and quiet.controls are in a good spot on steering wheel but the gear shift takes a little adjustment.The only change is in the radio layout of SXM Sirius which is difficult to navigate . Love the cars handling though all around .
