Subaru number 9 at 137,600 miles keeps running and running well.

Other than the Oil Consumption issues this Subaru continues to run well. At 85,000 miles Subaru replaced the problem engine on this Outback. It now has 137,600+ miles on it and makes weekly runs for the American Red Cross to do blood pick ups around New York State. It is our all purpose hauler. Our 2009 Subaru Outback at 45,000 is our Sunday car. The 2013 has hauled every things from rabbits, cats, dogs, rabbit pellets, hay, straw, mulch, groceries, concrete blocks, concrete to ceramic floor tiles. But there are times when I have items that will not fit inside or on the roof rack so I pay to have them delivered. Mile after mile I LOVE MY SUBARUS!

We're a Subaru poster family

The Subaru Outback (ours is a 2013), works almost perfectly for our now-family of two empty nesters with an Australian Shephard. The cargo space is the right size for a medium-large crate in which to transport the dog, the mechanics are reliable, and, while not super-zippy with its 4-cylinder engine, it can cruise at 80 mph if necessary with no trouble.

My Subaru Outback is my dream car...

Even if I won the lottery & could afford any car I wanted, I would still drive my Subaru! My first Subaru was a 2000 Outback. From then on, I was hooked. After experiencing the dependability and surefootedness of the Subaru on Idaho's winter roads, I can't see myself driving any other car. I drove Suzy Subaru until 2015 when she began needing more repairs & my husband wanted me in a newer car. We found a really nice 2013 Subaru Outback that had all the bells & whistles I wanted, named her Sadie & brought her home. I will drive Sadie until she is on her last legs & then I will buy another Subaru! Unless they start producing the less than superior vehicle Subaru has always made, I am a Subaru driver for life!

2013 outback

I love the look of my car because, of the front nose, and it looks like a subaru. I do not care for the 2019 models--they do not look like subarus. I only like the backup feature which mine does not have.

Solid but not my fun car

The Outback gets me where I want or need to go in winter and has the pulling power for a trailer loaded with wood. AWD and the winter package with heated seats and the moon roof are great. The rear view camera bit the dust, and the replacement is a poor substitute. I just miss the standard shift which is no longer an option. And the newer Foresters, if it have a standard shift, have a lower towing capacity than my older models. So for fun I drive a 16 year-old VW diesel with over 200 K. The Outback will never make it that far in VT, especially with road brine in winter. I researched cars, and this was my best choice for now. But mpg is a disappointment.

Secure handling

Two negatives are the instrument buttons that are small and to close together that require taking your eyes off the road to find and use them. Also, road noise while driving even after having quiet rated tires installed.

Reliable car

Lacks in ease of entry. The grab handle above the drivers door is in a position that makes it impossible to use for a person with disabilities. Lacks some basic features a car of this price should have. Power seats. Side detection. 2013 limited. Should not cut corners in safety and quality. Should not install worthless feature just to say they have them. (Grab handles).

2013 Outback

Everything is good. we have over 70,000 miles on it with no problems. Only drawback is that my wife cannot see around the front window posts as well as she would like and has scratched the front finders a couple of times.

Stay away from this car!

Between the oil consumption, the class action lawsuits against Subaru, the shoddy materials used to make even more $ than they already do, and the infinite number of problems I’m having with my 2013 Subaru Outback, including losing over $3,000 in value (per KBB) in just a year, I’m already upside down on a lemon that I’m stuck with! Subaru is not what it used to be, this is my third and last Subaru I’ll ever buy...

LOVE MY SUBIE!

This is my first Subaru, which happens to be an Outback. I've owned it since 2012 and still love it. I've used it to pull my trailer loaded with kayaks, packed it full time and again for when I moved, and just daily driving.

Handles the Snow

My Outback Subaru can handle the rain and snow! It is an automatic that is equipped with a manual transmission too, so coming down my downhill, windy street is easy and controlled in the snow. Fuel; 29 mpg in town. I love my Outback.

Worst Experience with a Subaru

I chose the Subaru Outback because I was familiar with the brand as I previously owned a 2010 Forrester. I thought it was a "no-brainer" to spend a little extra money on a certified pre-owned through a Seattle dealer (Carter). Why would I have to research a Subaru? I've heard about and had great experiences with the brand. A month after I purchased the car my certified battery died (through no fault of my own), which concerned me. Two months later my check engine oil light came on and the level was low. I had driven less than 1,000 miles. Upon finally researching my car I learned of the class action lawsuit against Subaru. Apparently the rings (in many different Subaru models in a few year range) are made from an inferior metal which breaks down much quicker, allowing the oil to leak past the pistons and burn up. (cue passive/aggressive bitterness) Wonderful. Always nice to feel rewarded for being brand loyal. Maybe the dealership could have shared this information with me...? Nope, they were too busy marking up the price a full $4,000 over bluebook value. After doing an oil consumption test, Michael's Subaru of Bellevue is putting in a new engine block, free of charge. This brought me off the ledge, but my faith in Subaru will never be the same. *UPDATE* just received a notice from Subaru extending the warranty on the CVT on my model... that can't be good.
