I love my Kona at first and now I am starting to have issues with it.

I have 10,000 miles on it and the transmission slips and it is constantly making a popping sound when turning the steering wheel.

Excellent upgrades

I love that the made the Kona larger. The 2026 Kona has considerably more interior room, leg, head and shoulder. It also sits high off the road than the older model. This give the driver a more commanding view of everything around the vehicle. The ride is much more comfortable than the older model.

Error with engine

While I have overall enjoyed my 2026 Hyundai Kona SEL Sport, an issue recently arose that I wanted to bring to Hyundai’s attention. This was the first time I experienced this issue. While I was stopped at a red light, the vehicle displayed the message, “Engine off! Shift to P or N, then start engine.” I shifted the vehicle into Park and restarted it, and it started back up normally. After restarting, I continued driving and noticed the RPM was around 3,600 while traveling approximately 45 mph. The vehicle also felt like it was pulling slightly differently than it normally does. Everything seemed to return to normal afterward, but this was concerning because the vehicle is still very new.

bought new car less than one month had a major issue

i bought this car brand new less than a month ago, and it already had an issue where it wouldn’t start, wouldn’t shut off, and even couldn’t lock the vehicle. I took it to the dealership, and they kept it for about two weeks to repair it. I just got the car back, but I’m concerned that the problem may happen again in the future. I don’t know if the issue has been completely fixed or if there could be other problems down the road.

I’m enjoying the Kona. I’ve had an Accent, Sonata, Santa Fe and Tucson. Loved my Tucson but sold it to my son and bought the Kona.
