A disappointment in only one important regard
I have the 2017 Santafe Sport Ultimate. I am happy with everything about the car except for one serious problem, a problem reported frequently on the WEB. This problem occurs intermittently but has nearly cost me an accident recently. What occurs is the failure of the car to respond to the gas pedal, especially after downshifting; it is often necessary to pump the gas pedal to get a response . To try to be more precise, when slowing down to, say, turn or enter a high-speed highway, the car, after downshifting upon slowing, does not respond promptly when the gas pedal is pressed, often leading to a second or two of not accelerating as expected. Recently, when entering a local expressway, the car behind me nearly ran into me because the driver accelerated, expecting me to immediately accelerate.
This is a serious enough problem for me that, if not fixed, I would likely sell the car and purchase a new one - but, obviously, I would not purchase another Hyundai unless this was resolved.
