It’s ok

It’s ok small suv, the features are ok. Good gas mileage, about 26 in the city, around 30+ on highway. I’ve had problems with the ac going out and the back up camera went out, luckily the warranty covers it, great werranty.

Needs attention to drive train

Overall the car is not bad for basically what is a crossover. Seating is mostly comfortable with the exception of the headrests. I turned mine around in order to alleviate neck pain. The Hankook tires are better for dry and wet conditions. Even with AWD we managed to get it stuck in the snow, probably because of how light the vehicle is. Storage is mediocre as I feel I can put just as much stuff in my Sonata. My biggest complaint about this make and model is the transmission. After 20,000 miles the dual clutch automatic didn't shift as smooth. Maybe Hyundai should consider a CVT. My other complaint is about the accelerator. This issue has been recalled and has been fixed. However, I do not see much of a difference. I do not like the hesitation when you hit the gas. For stop and go situations, this could be risky. Also makes me a bit nervous when you enter a 70 MPH interstate with a short on-ramp.

Bad acceleration!

The acceleration is so bad that I'm always afraid that I'm going to get hit when pulling out. Love everything else about the SUV. Great in the snow. Good handling, love the panoramic sunroof and heated seats

A real disappointment

This is only the second new car I have ever purchased in my life and was really excited to lease a car for the first time. I had seen ads for the Tucson and my husband had talked to a couple who purchased one. I went to the Hyundai web site and looked at a Tucson and there was a lot of information about the car and it's safety rating. There were many features shown there. We drove the Tucson and wanted to trade in our Mercury Marquis. The buying process was too lengthy and we were approached by too many different people. We were lied to about the amount given for our trade-in and found out when signing the lease agreement. The original deal we were quoted kept changing and we were asked for more down payment than the first offer. We were told there was no good lease special on the Tucson like on other models. Then a week later, there was a lease deal with no down payment and lease payment of $199 month for 2 years. We somehow were talked into a 4 year lease, and I know of no one else who has that long a lease. First problem was we found the car did not have an automatic lift gate and the lift gate is quite heavy, so it is inconvenient when shopping and loading anything in the back. We were back at the dealer next day and were told that there was nothing they could do about another car with more features, we found that the model we leased did not have any of those safety features from the Hyundai web site like help with braking and alarms when something is behind while backing. The general manager told us to return in two years and he would give us a good deal on a lease of a different car. We have overpaid for the car we have and did return to Jenkins Hyundai in Leesburg, FL where we originally leased for our vehicle exchange. They sent us multiple emails that we could exchange our car for a new car with little or no money and possibly a lower payment than we are paying now, but the first offer for us to exchange for a Sonata with many features was that we would pay $41,000 to finance and they would pay off our current lease. This made me very angry, not at all what the email offer was saying that they needed our used car and we would get another car for little or no money. The passenger seat of the Tucson is not comfortable for me because there is no adjustment in the height and my legs hurt if I sit there very long. I wanted to feel the joy that I felt when I purchased a new car many years ago and instead have been sad and disappointed. If we had gotten a better lease offer, maybe I could have overlooked some of the things I do not like about the car and been focused on the good and look forward to leasing another Hyundai after 2 years, but now I am stuck with this car in a lease with 2 more years and found there is no way out without paying off the lease which would cancel any good sales or lease offers that are available now. The car is okay, but not the car I had hoped for.

Not my favorite

I love every feature in my 2016 Tucson! But, cannot stand the dual clutch transmission! Hyundai really messed up by putting the DCL in the Tucson! The hesitation from stop to start is dangerous. Not having full power to exit onto the interstate is dangerous.

Mike

I feel the vehicle is a good looking good value with the exception of the transmission. The dual clutch transmission has been a problem from the start knowing what I now know I would not have purchased it. The way the transmission performs is not safe, this vehicle is an accident waiting to happen I would not recommend this vehicle.

18000 miles and we were told the front end needs work. I would think this is not normal for a new car.

This car is fun to drive as long as you are in sport mode. If you are in ECO you have to wait for your exceleration to kick in. We are concerned about how reliable this vehicle is since we have 18,000 miles on it and were told the front end needs work because of how the tires are wearing out.

Great Economical SUV

A nice compact, economical SUV. I would like to see California open more hydrogen-refueling stations since it is still very limited. I have run out of fuel 3 times in 2 years due to not having enough fuel to make it to a station and/or finding the station empty when I arrived.

Hyundai Tuscon

I've had many problems with this particular model, 2016 Hyundai Tuscon. Specifically the transmission which they have indicated "it's made this way". Other minor problems that have been corrected immediately, but still too many since I've purchased it new.

2016 Tucson

Transmission overheats going up a hill in traffic. Great car except engine needs better engineering for next models in the future. The features and styling of vehicle is fantastic. I tried to take it up the hill to Big Bear and had to turn back and come home. Unfortunately the engine overheats when climbing a hill at a very slow rate of speed.

Dual clutch sucks

I do not like the dual clutch in our 2017 Tuscon. My car hesitates and many, I mean many times the car won't get up and go and leaves me and my family in harms way when another vehicle is coming. I love everything else about this car but the dual clutch is dangerous and I worry about the safety of my family and others while driving this car. I hope Hyundai does away with the dual clutch or we may be forced to purchase our future cars from another manufacturer. We have owned 5 hyundais, and our parents and my sister and extended family have all bought Hyundai because we have raved so much about this company. The dual clutch system may be a sticking point for our family to go into another direction with future purchases, as it is just not safe at all.

Not very smooth

I like my vehicle. It’s very cute and I love the size being a small crossover. It gets great gas mileage. I don’t think it drives the best. It’s not super smooth all the time when you accelerate. Braking can be hit or miss. Sometimes I barely tap the brakes and it comes to an immediate stop. Other times it stops normally. It’s hard to know how to apply the brakes when it seems to be temperamental.

I love the SUV, I hate the surprises.

I have the 2016 Ultimate Limited Tucson. It feels great to drive. I really like its design. The interior is very comfy. I HATE the fact that the Caribbean Blue paint seems to be so thin that I find a new paint chip somewhere...CONSTANTLY! It also is frustrating that according to the dash info, Im getting around a 20 mpg average and I dont race this thing around at all. Also, when the warning indicator goes off on the dash, when I look to see which warning it was, the indicator is gone. It seems to just go off for no reason, sometimes, and I dont know why.

Slow pick up

I like the roominess of the vehicle. But it has a very slow pick up, which is dangerous when you are unaware of it. I don’t like the head rests in the front seats they’re too close. It pushes your head forward.

Tucson Sport 1.6

I bought the sport model 2016 Tucson and really love the safety features, it is comfortable, stylish but............the double clutch system isn't for me. I wish I could buy a 2019 as they eliminated it ..........so I guess it isn't for a lot of people.

Not a great car anymore

This car runs very poorly compared to my old Sante Fe. The transmission recall has not fixed the problem of lag and hesitation on excelleration. Passenger side rear door will not open even unlocked. Internal air vents on A/C freeze the drivers hand.

Love everything about the car but the dual-clutch-transmission (DCT). I HATE IT WITH A PASSION AND HAVE CURSED IT OFTEN!!! You shouldn't require a minimum number of characters in a review. I was done after I gave you my opinion of the DCT.

Engineers messed up with design of dual cllutch transmission

I would give the 2016 Tuscon 5!stars but do not like the design of the dual clutch transmission. The car hesitates at low speeds and when in heavy traffic seems to shudder almost like it will stall but it has not happened. Told it was a design of the vehicle. Quick acceleration not smooth so beware to leave enough room when pulling out onto highways. Despite this vehicle is nice to drive and has nice features.
