Tuscon
I love the looks, performance, and interior space of my Tucson. However, it was brought to my attention in a most painful way that the Hyundai vehicles are very easy to break into. My Tucson was stolen on 2/19/18, recovered on 3/18/18, and in the body shop being repaired until 4/27/18. My insurance paid over $10000 for the repairs, and I am personally out of pocket for $1500. The body shop people told me that the driver's side door lock was broken with a screwdriver, as was the ignition switch. I had the vehicle locked with the factory alarm set, and the alarm did not sound. I am dismayed that the vehicle was stolen so easily, and am taking further measures to prevent this from happening again, at great expense to myself. Hyundai engineers need to address this problem. A simple solution is to not have an exposed driver's door lock since most owners use the electronic key fob. BMW has an elegant solution with a hidden tool in the key fob to expose the keyhole if needed. Another suggestion is to provide an after market cover for the keyhole which drivers can purchase in high- crime areas.
