Transmission

The ONLY complaint I have is with the dual clutch transmission. The hesitation and slight "bucking" feeling is bothersome The acceleration from a stop is never a smooth progression. The vehicle seems to hesitate before gaining speed

Tucson 2017

I like the suv itself with everything it has. I just don’t quite like how it rides. I can’t put my foot to the pedal to fast in the beginning. You have to ease into it. It sounds like you’re not in the right gear. After that it rides good.

The seats are uncomfortable and the motor is underpowered. Why have a backup camera with no backup sensor come on Hyundai. There needs to be Sirius xm not just XM radio. The head lights are great, and has a good warranty.

Huyndai Tucson

I traded my 2013 Kia Optima EX for the Huyndai Tucson. I don’t think the Tucson is the same quality. It feels “cheaply” made. My husband doesn’t like the way it shifts gears. I had buyers remorse after the first few weeks.

Terrible awd

Love the car. A little small but well equipped. I moved here from Las Vegas and bought my 4th HYUNDAI thinking the awd system was good as is all HYUNDAI engineering, it is terrible in the snow. Had I known I would have never purchased the vehicle.

17-18 miles per gallon in city driving?

The title is one of the most important issues. My insurance paid $15,000.00 to fix the roof of the car damaged by a 12 inches tree branch on the back of the car. They claimed the windshield had to be replaced.

Wouldnt rebuy

When we were shopping around for a small suv the car really stood out with the panoramic sunroof and the large screen; however, after owning the car for about 2 years I’m glad we leased and didn’t purchase it. The engine isn’t very powerful, the car is terrible in the snow, and it’s cheaply made. Great for a beginner car but wouldn’t recommend for a family

Nice SUV terrible transmission

The interior and exterior of the vehicle are really nice. Lacks power even with turbo. The transmission is terrible at very slow speeds. It’s like it doesn’t know what to do and when it finally does it pins you back at 5000 RPM. It’s a death trap waiting to happen if you pull out in front of or cross traffic from a roll. Also you have to pay $200 a year if you want remote start through Blue Link, total rip-off.

Hyundai Tucson

I really like so many things about my Tucson. It has a lot of options that I enjoy using. I would have rated it a 5 if it weren’t for the on going problem that I have with the sound system. Every once in a while the sound will not come on until I stop the car and reset the system. Changing out the system did not work and no solution has been found. It’s so sad to purchase a new vehicle and something does not work the way it’s supposed to and no one can figure it out.

New car review

This is a very good vehicle for in town driving it is easy to park and gets good fuel economy. However, on the open highway it lacks power and is a bit noisy. The guidance system is not very good, it appears to only understand about 15% of what is requested. .

2017 Hyundai Tucson - Turbo

For the most part, I'm happy with the car, but I'm not sure I would buy another one. I've had several occasions when i tried to accelerate to either move into traffic or cross an intersection and upon pressing down on the accelerator . . . nothing at first. This is very dangerous!

A Huge Disappointment

I absolutely loved my 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. After purchasing it used (30,000 miles), I drove it for 15 years and 250,000 miles in all sorts of terrain and conditions, and it never failed me but once near the end (had to be towed but repairable). I expected the new Tucson which I purchased ca.16 months ago to be the same in terms of quality and facility of use, but that has not been the case. In terms especially of performance on the road (15,000), mechanically, and in terms of gas mileage, it has been excellent. That is what I was most focused on when test driving (several times). With regular use, it had been frustrating in terms of interior design/appointments and ESPECIALLY visibility. I am 5'4"--not a giant but not a midget either if the car is intended for purchase by women as well as men--and the driver's seat is virtually impossibe to adjust adequately. I must either hit my head or duck getting in and out of the car, or adjust the seat a bit further back which is not ideal (it still brushes my hair). Most seriously, it's impossible to see the road close to the car because the body is so high, which is a MAJOR safety concern. The center console between the front seats is inferior to any previous car I've had, both in terms of the storage area (previous Hyundai had two vertical compartments instead of one deep one) and the cup holders are not nearly as conveniently located--if I'm alone in the car, i can use the one evidently meant for a passenger, if there are two persons with cups, the driver's side one is impossible to reach without being a contortionist--NOT desirable while driving. The heating and air controls are almost exactly the same as in my old Santa Fe in terms of options, and yet they are MUCH more complicated/harder to use. They're not situated intuitively, so that you have to really look at them, which means taking one's eyes off the road if driving! The one (really helpful) addition in this car is the switches for front and rear defrosting quickly. Finally, the seat fabric is horrible--a light gray color which shows dirt more and is REALLY HARD to clean, as well as not being as cozy as the velour-like seat covering in my former Hyundai, which I NEVER had to clean. I will stop here. I spent a very LONG time with an in-depth evaluation previously.

Beware of the transmission

I have a 2017 Tuscan with the 1.6 liter turbo. The main complaint is the transmission. From day one the car hesitates when the accelerator is pressed. Three different dealerships have checked it and said it is the type of transmission. it makes you hesitant to enter the roadway when a vehicle is approaching. Once on the road it has plenty of power.

Liftgate very difficult to operate. When I go to the market I put the packages in with ease, but when I get home its not so easy. I have to take them out set them on the ground in order to put the liftgate down.

Tucson Turbo

We don’t like the way the Tucson turbo accelerates, it hesitates and is very difficult to accelerate smoothly. We purchased the vehicle without a roof rack but supposedly had an fOEM one ordered and installed and it makes a loud noise when driving between 25 and 40 niles per hour. Two different Faulkner locations have tried to correct the problem to no avail. The only thing that stops the noise is to remove the roof racks.

Inexpensive vehicle with some quirks

I bought the Tucson because I needed an affordable brand new vehicle. Overall it is extremely dependable!! I have the very base model so no bells and whistles. The lack of amenities is not the reason for my low scoring review on this vehicle. I am unhappy with the loud wind noise in the cabin. The vehicle locks itself randomly and I have NO IDEA why. I do not lock it but it ends up locked. It handles very well especially in snow or other unpleasant road conditions.
