Great car - drive before you buy

My car has the 2.0 turbo and I think it is a great engine and transmission combination for the vehicle. You guys really did this one right. My car is also equipped with the navigation screen. It is also very well done. There is room for improvement in one area. It needs a "home" screen. The home screen could be half map, quarter audio and a quarter climate "or something else maybe". Over all a really nice car for the money except for the terrible feel of the electric power steering that makes me not want to drive it.

Vehicle review of my 2014 Santa Fe Sport

I average between 21 to 29 miles to the gallon depending on how I drive. This was a goal I had in mind when I selected this car. The most significant drawback of the Sport is the poor rear visibility, especially when backing up.. This is a significant safety factor to me. Yeah, the camera is ok but it would be nice if the beep went off when cars were further away. I noted in this month's Consumer Reports that the rear window visibility is still a problem on the newest Santa Fe Sport. Why has nothing been done to correct this drawback? Other than that I'd give the car an "excellent" rating.

2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 Turbo

This is a vehicle with lots of features for the money. Add to this, the 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty, along with the styling, and this is a solid choice for a primary daily driver vehicle. The positives are: bullet-proof engine and drive train, attractive styling, ergonomically friendly and appealing interior, and versatility. The negatives are: miserable gas mileage (all things considered), and some electrical gremlins, that detract from the overall enjoyment of the vehicle. Also, the NAV/GPS system is miserable too. Not very user-friendly, or intuitive, and difficult to input addresses or destination points smoothly and easily. The Acura NAV system, with the round toggle-button, in my older RDX was/is far superior to the NAV system in the Hyundai -- which pains me to say, because I want to support Hyundai. But, truthfully, other NAV systems out there are better than the Hyundai version.

Great little SUV for the money

We bought this to replace a large SUV which no longer met our needs. It has proven to be just what we were looking for. Nice, compact, yet all the space that two empty nesters need to travel onward on our journey.

Almost Great Santa Fe S

I like almost everything about my SF Sport. The best feature for me is that it drives like a car, not a bulky SUV. On the down side, it has issues with the fog lights burning out too often. I've had rt side passenger fog light replaced 2xs, thank goodness it's still under warranty. But when that expires I'll not be happy replacing them constantly and paying labor costs. Also when I purchased my 2014 SF Sport it didn't have the auto rear gate lift as an option and I believe it should have been a standard feature! The navigation/map needs to be included as an updated maintenance. I checked mine and it's a 6 for a 2014 model. It should have this updated to a 10 coming this June...no wonder it's recalculating routes! Love the giant sun/moon roof, too. Note to dealerships: someone needs to invent a safety cover that latches safely on sun/moonroof whenever there is hail in the forcast! Here in TX hail could be year round weather occurrence.

Santa Fe Sport - a great value

This has been our first SUV and we are well and truly impressed with the features. I wish the mileage was a little better (the only reason for 4 not 5 stars). The ride is fantastic and the interior holds more than I thought it would. Moving our daughter in and out of college has been a breeze.

I have mentioned two things below, which I have trouble with, but overall, I love my Hyundai When strangers and friends ask how I like the car, I always give a glowing review, and especially tell them how nice our local dealership in Williamsburg, vA is to work with.

I have no problems with my Hyundai. The only thing I wish for is to have an actual key. I have forgotten to turn the car off when I get out because no key.

Bad blind spots

I have had 2 back up accidents related to blind spots. We don't like how low the front passenger seat sits. The cabin doesn't seem to heat up fast or cool down very fast. We love how it performs in the snow, and most everything else about it, lots of room, comfortable.

Santa Fe Sport is a great vehicle but....

I really love my Santa Fe with one major annoyance that I wish Hyundai would change. Each and every time you start your car, there is this safety message that you have to accept or it stays on the screen and you can't change to use another function. This is not a major problem, but I think Hyundai has done an excellent job of installing a totally unnecessary annoyance to the driver of the car. I understand with the litigious society we live in today, Hyundai probably felt it had to protect itself with this disclaimer. Every time I start the car I get irritated. I don't know if I will get another Hyundai product if this is a standard and necessary function that has to be in the car.

A very solid car

Great road feel and precision behind the wheel. After over two years the car still feels brand new! Only issue is the very rough road feel, probably due to its19" wheels, and having to pay over $200 for every map update when my other car's portable Garmin does it several times a year for a one time price of only $175.
