Maintenance cost too high, oil leaks @ 65,000 miles Estimate to repair front seal $1,600.00. Miss diagnosed rear engine seal leak $4000.00 to repair.

2005 Honda Pilot

Love everything about it except gas mileage could be better. That's the only thing keeping it from 5 stars. Runs excellent and has all the bells and whistles. Over 100,000 and no need for anything except regular oil changes and 100k maintenance.

Our first Honda

Aside from the years on this car, it has been very solid and reliable. It is small for an "SUV", but we didn't want/need full size. Very nice to drive, not too big; yet has 8 seats (very tight but good for kids without carseats). I like having options, and this car has it. Now we have something for all weather conditions that is bigger than a Subaru, but smaller than a truck. Not bad on gas. It's fine for the two of us, can seat a couple more adults nice. Or, we can pile grandkids in.

Great for short trips up to 1.5 hour drive. Wonderfully reliable and mostly service free

Overall I have been pleased with this vehicle. I needed an SUV that my tall son would fit in during his teen years. It took us on many camping, hiking and road trips throughout WA and OR. Normal service was maintained through the dealership.

Never let's me down

Very reliable and always gets the job done. Always plenty of room. Negative as I'm finding out with most older Hondas, the air conditioner will conk out eventually and sooner then most would like, and usually it will be the compressor that is not a cheep fix.

2005 Honda Pilot

I bought this SUV new in late 2004. It has nearly 170,000 miles of flawless performance. This Pilot is dependable with a smooth ride. It is a great family vehicle. Radio and a/c fan have been the only problems. I highly recommend Hondas in general.

Older is better

I have a second hand 2005 Pilot which fits my needs perfectly. Lots of space for hauling art supplies for sales and lots of seating for events. I do not like the changes made in the newer models, they just aren't as appealing. The storage space in the rear under the floor really needed a stronger door. The plastic has split due to the weight of groceries sitting on it (if it's going to be in the floor, it needs to hold a reasonable load). The gas mileage is still phenomenal even after 295,000 + miles.

This is a really good vehicle. The engine has been strong as long as we have owned it. Small minor things we have done to this, I would suggest to use really good expensive gas, which will save your cate converter which this is notorious for, or check it prior to buying.

Honda Pilot EXL-RES

Bought vehicle to tow boat. Became daily driver. Generally reliable, but has had rear A/C failure, starter motor replacement, and rear brake line rust out. Vehicle has over 170,000 miles on Odometer. Engine, transmission, drive train good, as are all accessories. This is a well equipped vehicle for it's age.

Great small suv for a big family

Able to load the whole family of 7 up in it and travel a good distance and everyone has plenty of room for everyone and everything. Great gas mileage for being a midsize suv also for he miles that I put in everyday work commute.

Safe and reliable.

Runs like a top and very safe. Had a fender bender and the only thing that happen to the pilot was some paint transfer. Other than that, I love the versatility of the third row of seats and the vast amount of internal space for cargo and my 6'5" frame. I will buy another one day when this one dies.

I'll let my car speak for itself. Bought 10 1/2 yrs ago. 92,000 miles original brakes replaced at 90,000 miles timing belt replaced at 90,000 (original belt did not fail) new tie rods at 92,000.miles Everything else is original factory equipment!

Years and years of reliable driving

Our Pilot is 10 years old and still delivers excellent driving capability, reliability, comfort and versatility. When we first considered buying a car, we were torn between a truck or an SUV. We've carried lumber, furniture, musical equipment, and even a 6 ft Christmas inside the car with the door closed. We have also traveled with 7 adults, a large dog crate and luggage comfortably and safely. The Variable All Wheel option has gotten us through dangerous road conditions and the gas mileage is not as bad as other 6 cylinder AWD automobiles. We love it and hope it lasts 5 more years.
