Will never own another Elantra
I will never own another Elantra in my life. I'm also debating on Hyundai itself with the engine recall on the Sonata as well. Anyway, I have never had to fix a car for such stupid things more in my life. Now, I'm fairly young and haven't owned many cars, but my parents have had TONS of cars and my dad fixes them quite often, including this one. Well, this vehicle was preowned, so maybe the previous owner had something to do with it, but it's one thing after another with this car...when I first purchased the car 7 months ago, I fell in love with it. It drove smoothly, it had great technology, LOVE the gas mileage, just loved everything about it. Well, when I bought the car ALL the tires were low, and I know nothing about cars, so I didn't really pay attention. I drove at least 60 miles a day 5 days a week to work on those lows tires, and now my wheel bearings are pretty totalled, which is a $800 fix. Now, I know it's not Hyundai themselves who sold me the vehicle, BUT, a friend of mine was having the same tire issue on her Hyundai Elantra as well...then I come to find out my year of car has FOUR flipping recalls, and my car had THREE of the four. I can understand one, MAYBE two recalls. But four??? Did you rush through the design much?? Then on top of it all the Electronic Stability Control has been screwed up since I got the car, and I can't even tell if it's fixed yet until I can fork out $800 to fix the wheel bearings. I also heard there have been cases the air bags didn't deploy like they were supposed to, and there were a lot of reported crashes due to the recalls. I was SUPER lucky and almost crashed my car FOUR times myself because of it and was lucky enough to finally gain control of the car before that happened...I will admit it has been very reliable and has had no engine issues or break downs at all when it already has 125,000 miles and it's a 2012, but that is literally the only good thing about it. It's even kind of an ugly car, in my opinion. I am just extremely disappointed and don't know why such a piece of crap car is so popular.
