report card

great on mileage. approximately 19 mpg. looks great after 5 years. engine rattles when cold. seats heat up with in a few minutes. love the sun roof but it leaked after 4 years. fixed quickly and it was covered. doesnt take potholes very well,the tires bubbled . had to be replaced 3 times. overall no other repairs

Fine Car

Whatever problems with vehicle, service has taken care of. Occasionally, it seems sluggish. Pay attention and bring to service attention. It's a good car but sad on gas. Check into some type of compensation for used gas. The Elantra is gorgeous but bold easy to dent.

2012 Elantra

I love the fuel economy, and it is very comfortable. However, the blind spots on this model are huge. I understand that they have tried to remedy the problem on the 2017 model. The interior is no-frills. If you are looking for a reliable little commuter car, this is great.

Elantra Limited

Bought the Elantra in 2011(2012 model) and now have 59,000 miles and no trouble at all. Gas mileage has been very good as expected. I would buy this car again. Only complaints would be wind and tire noise is a little louder than I like and some body noise from bumps.

Economical, comfortable, glad I purchased it

I was not intending to purchase an Elantra. I was looking at comparable models from 2 other big name auto makers (both Japanese). But when the salesman pulled up in the 2012 Elantra, I had a feeling, this was the one. Mine is a 2012 with the "tech" package -- Bluetooth, XM, GPS screen, moon/sunroof, fog lights, iPhone compatibility, leatherette interior, and some other stuff. Purchase it certified used and really am happy with it. It handles better than expected, has more legroom than I expected, and I really like the "Shiftronic" transmission with both automatic and manual "sport" mode. Having driven manual transmission cars most of my life, there are moments when I prefer manual mode. One thing I will change -- when these tires are ready to be replaced, I will not get the low-profile design again. I feel every pebble I drive over. They may improve gas mileage, though -- my Elantra has given me the best mpg's I've ever gotten at 39.6. Not bad at all. I definitely recommend the Elantra to anyone shopping for a family-sized 4-door sedan. The 2-door model looks nice, too. The wagon model looks cool but doesn't seem to add much trunk space.

Nice Little Car, Really

I shopped 3 other similar cars but something about this car just grabbed me. It's a little bouncy, no spare tire and road noise is a bit pronounced, AND I'm 6'5" but I fit. Nice layout of controls and dash. Looks good, too. Comfortable. Moon roof is the best.

A joy to drive.

I bought my Elantra in 2011. Since then I have driven it 165,000 miles. It is just such an easy car to drive. The only thing bad is, the steering tends to get sticky on long drives where you do not move the wheel much. In researching it, I have found it is a common issue with electric steering. Other than that, the car is quite roomy inside for someone that is over 6 feet tall. I can go on long trips and stay comfortable. My other car (not a Hyundai) makes my back and legs hurt after about 4 hours. I am hoping to keep my Elantra till 250,000 miles or more.

Elantra is okay

My biggest complaint is the road noise I hear in the cabin. Talking is done at a higher volume with the person next to me. I like the cockpit panel and gas mileage and comfortable seats as well as the interior storage and big arm rest.

Great car with one exception.

For the past 4 years, there has been a random grinding noise on the front passenger side of the vehicle. I have taken the car in four times to solve the problem. Since the noise occurs randomly, mostly in short bursts, the problem source has been evasive. I was assured, after testing, that safety was not an issue, and the noise would need to be constant in order to solve the situation. My concern is that down the road it may happen to turn into a major deal, and the warranty will expire, leaving me with a costly fix.

Very nice little car a bit underpowered, but shiftronic gear makes the difference, however some vibration from the air bags are annoying at times when the road is not smooth.

No spare tire

I was not told when I bought this car that it did not come with a spare, only a can of air or something, until it was needed. Think every car, regardless of make or model, need to have one. I hear that this was changed in newer models.
