Amazing

Sonata's are a nice car.

I bought this 2014 new for my wife and I to take trips, and we liked so much that when our son needed a car to drive to college we bought a 2012 sonata used for him. I like how well it handles in the snow also.

THE 2014 SONATA, 4 CYLINDER, AUTOMATIC, FOUR WHEELED LITTLE MONSTER.

I WILL LIST THE GOOD POINTS, AS I SEE THEM, AND THEN THE THINGS THAT NEED TO BE IMPROVED. SOME OF THESE MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN IMPROVED. I'M NOT SURE. THE LITTLE MONSTER IS VERY RELIABLE, GETS EXCELLENT GAS MILEAGE, HANDLES REALLY WELL ON THE ROAD, probably BETTER THAN ANY CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED, HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE NEVER ADDED ANY OIL EXCEPT AT ROUTINE OIL CHANGES ABOUT EVERY 3,500 MILES OR WHEN IT GETS DIRTY. (I DON'T GO FOR THAT 5,000 MILE OIL CHANGE BIT, I THINK THAT IS TOO LONG UNLESS IT IS ALL ROAD MILES UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS.) THIS IS, WITHOUT QUESTION, THE TOUGHEST LITTLE CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. THE NIGHT WE TOOK DELIVERY OF THE CAR MY WIFE HIT A CURB THAT WOULD HAVE KNOCKED THE FRONT END OUT OF MY BUICK AND I COULD NOT FIND ANY SIGN OF DAMAGE. DRIVES STRAIGHT, BRAKES STRAIGHT AND NO ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS SURFACED. FOUR YEARS LATER I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT BUT IT IS HARD TO DISPROVE SUCCESS. I REALLY LIKE THE BACK UP CAMERA AND MY SON'S NEW HYUNDAI HAS A 360 DEG CAMERA THAT MAKES MINE OBSOLETE. THE LITTLE MONSTER HAS A LOT OF GOOD STUFF ON IT, LIKE THE HEATED SEATS, POWER SEATS, TURN SIGNALS ON THE MIRRORS, ETC. IT HAS AN EXCELLENT TRANSMISSION. NOW FOR THE BAD STUFF. THE LITTLE MONSTER RIDES LIKE A LOG WAGON, HIGH SPEED LOG WAGON. YOU REALLY NEED FOAM PILLOWS OR CUSHIONS TO BE COMFORTABLE ON A TRIP. IT IS NOISY, MUCH MORE THAN IT SHOULD BE. I DON'T HEAR GOOD AND THAT HELPS. I'M TALKING ABOUT ROAD NOISE, NOT WIND NOISE. THE CONSOLE IS VERY POORLY ARRANGED, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE RESTRICTED VISION OF SOME KIND. BY THE WAY, I NO LONGER DRIVE DUE TO WET MAC, MY WIFE DOES THE DRIVING NOW. THE CONSOLE REALLY NEED TO BE REENGINEERED COMPLETELY. THE SEAT BELT RECEIVERS NEED TO BE RAISED ABOUT ANOTHER INCH AS IT IS HARD TO GET THE MALE END INTO THE RECEIVER. (FRONT ONLY) THERE ARE A FEW OTHER LITTLE THINGS BUT THESE ARE THE BIG BADDIES AS I SEE THEM. IF YOU ARE RICH AND USED TO DRIVING A BMW, FORGET IT. I REALLY LIKE MY LITTLE MONSTER AND IT WILL PROBABLY BE THE LAST CAR I EVER BUY. IF I WAS YOUNGER AND COULD STILL DRIVE, I WOULD GET A NEW ONE TOMORROW.

Great value

The Hyundai Sonata is a comfortable sedan that handles smoothly and runs reliable. Add a hybrid powertrain and you have reasonably improved fuel efficiency and less pollution. Mine gets about 400 miles to the tankful (15 gal) and averages in the 29-31 mpg range. A few years ago the Korean automakers decided it was time to up their image to compete with the likes of Toyota and Nissan. Hyundai and Kia both began offering all the bells and whistles to their basic cars at basic car prices. You didn't have to pay extra for GPS Nav, panoramic sunroofs (well a little more) back up cameras, bluetooth, leather upholstery, etc. They were a great value. I bought mine in '14, and haven't really looked at the auto market since so I don't know if this still holds true. Oh yeah, did I mention the 100,000 mile/10 year warranty? That said, the car has two annoying drawbacks. The regenerative braking system that helps power up the car's battery every time the brakes are applied, makes the brakes very grabby. You feel as if you're tapping the brakes to slow down a bit and instead the car jerks making it feel (especially to your passengers) that you've slammed on the brakes for no reason. & secondly --and this is true with other contemporary cars) the front bumper is designed with such low clearance that the front end of the car scrapes on everything --even those low concrete barriers at the end of parking spaces. Any driving over any dip in the road, slightly steep driveway or going over a speed bump will result in a nasty scrape and a dislocation of your bumper. I've replaced mine twice. I know they'll supposed to be aerodynamic, but come on...

Love my car

I've had this call for four years purchased it brand new and do not regret my purchase. I would love to upgrade but my credit and fianaces will not allow this. I'm in the process of retiring. This car has served and is continuing to be of good service to me.

I love the car, the battery just went out after 4 and 1/2 years never owned a car that the battery lasts that long, that is why I went back to the dealer to get the same one. Besides changing the rear brake bulbs that I it for repairs

Satisfied Owner

I have been very happy with the look, and style of my Hyundai Sonata 2.0T it is a sportyvehicle with a quick and responsive engine. I have owned this vehicle for 4.3 years and have over 80K miles on it. I enjoy the feel of the adjusted steering, and sport mode, and have been happy with the turbo charged engine. The only negative is the passenger seat is strangely low positioned, you feel as though the dash is swallowing you. My wife hates this. I wish if had electric position options as the driver seat does. Fuel Mileage is great, backup camera is nice.

Gas cap

The gas cap doesn't click anymore. Had it checked by service at Hyundai dealer. They report that 'one click gas cap does not apply to this vehicle". Not what it says on cap or owners manual. It says that if has cap doesn't click then check engine light could come on.

Excellent Car

We've had our 2014 Sonata for nearly two years now and have only had one issue so far (we had a short in the computer circuitry after the back-up camera got wet). The interior is roomy, comfortable, and attractive. The performance is excellent even with the base engine. It also gets excellent gas mileage. While it averages 30 mpg, we've managed over 35 mpg on long trips. The only reasons we would replace it is if we needed more space than what a sedan can offer. That being said, we have taken several long-distance road trips with an infant and - with creative packing - we have managed to fit an enormous amount of luggage and baby equipment in the car without feeling too cramped. Also, we have the GLS with the popular equipment package. This adds a back-up camera, heated seats, nicer lighting, and a blind spot mirror. I highly recommend all of those features if your looking to buy one.

I gave my daughter my old Sonata when I got my new one and she is still driving it. My new one has great style, I get really good mileage, it has a lot of power, handles very well, It is an all around great vehicle

My 2014 Hyundai Sonata

I love my Sonata! Love the heated seats, handles very well, I get good fuel mileage! The drivers' seat is comfortable, runs great, big trunk, dependable, great interior and exterior lighting. My back up camera is great to have. Child protection locks on rear doors to keep my grandkids safe. Door pockets are great! The only con about my car is location of heated seat switches, as I turn them on accidentally frequently. I LOVE MY SONATA!

Sonata Review

The Sonata is very comfortable to drive and of course I like the gas mileage I get from it. I thought it was a good deal because of that and the way it performs. The design is very nice, a lot of people are surprised when they see it is a Hyundai, they usually think it's a much more expensive car. This is my second Hyundai, the other one was the XG 350, The Sonata is very reliable & if I get another new car I'm sure it will be another Hyundai.

Reliability, Expensive Service, Average Safety

The Sonata is an inexpensive car with good reliability. The total cost of ownership is higher than expected due to the expensive service costs and the fuel consumption. The seats are not very comfortable for above average built persons, especially on long distance trips. Service is expensive compared to other similar brands. No collection or delivery service possible for service. During a roll-over the safety performance is average or less.

My Hyundai Sonata, well I wouldn't have another model. If I was awarded a brand new vehicle of another make and model I would sell it and get a Hyundai Sonata. It is comfortable, very easy to drive and gets great gas mileage. I recently took a 2000+ mile trip to D.C. In the Blue Ridge Mountains she passed other more expensive models as if they were straining, she has plenty of power. On the trip we averaged 35 mpg and in the city 24, I was very pleased. My next car will also be a Hyundai Sonata.
