2012 Elantra

Big bang for the buck. Great gas mileage. Gorgeous in red with tan interior. Constantly "pulling" left since the day it left the showroom. Alignments never could correct it. Makes driving on long trips tiring because you have to keep compensating for the pulling to the left. Driving over 70 m.p.h. on the highway and your lucky if you can hear the radio. Seven years, 65,000 miles and no major problems. Normal maintenance (oil changes and filters and battery).

I love my car

I have had my car from the beginning. I would definitely buy another one when the time comes. Nothing is perfect but over all my car is good to me. My only suggestion is that they put better tires on the car for the Midwest area. 6 years before having to change the battery not bad. A few problems with starting the push button start but my car starts every morning with out fail. I love the look of my car and it does ride well.

great every driver or first car

bought this right after school. this is great first car or a great short commute car. has given very little trouble over the year. I think about the 70k miles mark is when things started to give a little bit of trouble. hit some issues with the transmission around the 70k miles mark but hyundai's warranty covered the full replacement. at about the 70k miles mark i had to cough up about $500 for spark plugs and ignition coils. all in all, because of relatively low parts costs etc this has been a decent buy

mostly good news

This 2012 Hyundai Elantra has never broken down. There have been two flat tires, which were repaired i a reasonable length of time. The car is reliable and adequate gas mileage. But--the A pillars always get in the field of view when turning. I would have liked a rear window wiper. This model does not have a back-up camera--I think that should be standard whenever the manufacturer makes it impossible to see behind the headrests, etc. It has sufficient "zoom" when accessing a highway. It handles well on either wet or dry pavement. I have 60,000 miles. The car still feels young.

Reliable for Point A to B car

Use car for ride sharing & commute to main job so this car gets a lot of miles. The suspension is sharp if DPI is above 39 [Tire pressure] Not bad in snow, unless slush, then it's too slippery to drive, even while taking your time. I always have customers that are suprised with roomy interior and heated seats. It's a small car, between compact and mid-size sedan.

I bought this car used and have been very surprised at how it handles given it is a 4 culture. A little disappointed in road noise especially from back seat. Seats are easy to clean but stains return quickly

Love

I really like this car. It handles well and rides smooth. Very sporty looking yet has a lot of room. I love the fact that the backseats lay down incase you need extra trunk space. Overall a very nice car.

Great gas mileage

2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited purchased 9/2011. Pros: Excellent gas mileage: 21 city/36 hwy. Like the front & rear heated seats. Comfortably seats 5. Cons: huge side-view mirrors & front window "pillars" block driver's view of pedestrians & vehicles approaching from the sides. Lots of wind/road noise & stiff jolts on bumpy roads. Open space between front seats & console/armrest "swallows" everything (glasses, keys, phone); some never retrieved!

2012 ELantra limited

Great, reliable vehihicle, great on gas mileage. Roomy, comfortable, sleak style, easy to drive. Would buy another one in the future. Already over 110,000 miles. I'm second owner. Held up after being rear end by a tomato rav4. Over all a 5 star rating.

The recalls

The car was good until two weeks ago it lost speed on the interstate which i was able to get off road. Was caused by coil recall. The car when I bought was in excellent condtion.It ran good . Except it did not have a navigation system.

A no nonsense car

The car before the Elantra was a Mazda turbo 5 speed. I have always driven manual transmissions I bought this car based on the low mileage and that it was a manual. Believed in the sales staff who didn’t try to convince me that I wanted an automatic:

Been a good budget commuter car

I have owned my 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited since new when I bought it new in Oct 2011. It has been a good reliable car with a decent warranty. Cost of operation has been pretty low. The Hyundai Gas Mileage Lawsuit guarantee also pays me occasionally for the car not getting the 40 MPG Hwy that was claimed when the car was new. Even with this I get about 28 MPG in stop and go rush hour traffic and it can get 35 MPG on the Hwy if you keep it under 70 mph. I have 97,000 miles on the car and it has only been in the shop for oil changes, recall repair, and maintenance. I am on my third set of tires and had the rear\front brakes replaced. My main complaint is ride quality. It has a rear torsion suspension so the car rides pretty rough overall and worse on uneven pavement. Fitting the car with a decent but softer all weather tires mitigates most of the rough ride at the expense of some gas mileage and tire wear. Considering what I paid for the car it has been well worth the investment. I would consider a Hyundai and maybe even a Genesis model in the future although I would want a bigger car with a better ride.

Elantra OK

Most things about the Elantra are quite good. However, it's hard to get over the promises of great gas mileage, which we do not get. Also, the height adjustment is insufficient for my wife's seating. She sits to low to properly see over the dashboard. We had to purchase a cushion foe her to properly see over the dashboard.

2012 Elantra

I have tihis car for 6 years now and it still running like a brand new. There was a problem with the shifting mechanism but it was fixed under the powertrain warranty. And it is at smooth as it was before again. The car is fun to drive and it is very responsive as long as the ECO is off. It is gas economical especially when you are driving alone. Haven’t use it for a very long drive but it is very reliable in city driving. I like how the body paint retains its lustre. It looks shiny everytime it is washed.

Vehicle is dependable. I have driven it around town and on long highway trips. There should be a rear window wiper and, a standard backup camera, not just one that is "available." Overall, the car is comfortable and reliable. I have serviced the vehicle according to manufacturer's schedule for 60,000 miles. A big negative is the location of the "A" pillar. It hinders the view of oncoming traffic when making a left turn on a curve.

Nice little car with awesome gas mileage

Aside from a problem with the main computer board a couple of months after the warranty expired, we have been very pleased with this vehicle. It's not a corvette, but it certainly does what we need, and its fuel efficiency is very impressive.

Fine car but disappointing gas mileage

This is a well-made, comfortable, well-performing car; we've owned it for almost 6 years. Everything works every time; however, we've never been able to get close to the 39 mpg the manufacturer promises. After having the car serviced this last time, we're trying a different tire pressure and hope it improves our mileage. If it does, we'll write a more positive review next time. The point is that, even with the mileage problems, this is a great car and we'll probably buy a Hyundai to replace it.
