2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited

I bought this car used 5 years ago for its economical gas usage. It’s been overall good to me. It slides when hitting any uneven surface over 60 mph and that’s always bothered me. I’ve also had to purchase 8 tires due to wear and tear from alignment issues. I’m a y’all woman (5’10”) and this car has always been too small for me height wise therefore making my overall experience less than perfect/enjoyable. My mother is 5’5 and it fits her perfectly in head room, and lumbar support etc.

Demonstrates Poe's Law

The moment it hit the 50,000 mile mark, my particular model triggered every single extended warranty notification. Performance, handling, use as a car however is superb. But it will break down on ya.

2012 Elantra

We bought this car in August 2011 when the gas was approaching $5 per gallon to save on gas. It turns out the gas mileage claims by Hyundai were vastly overstated. Also this car STAYS in the shop! There is always something going wrong with it. I'm constantly shelling out money to fix it!. It has become a Money Pit which is why this is my last Hyundai!! I never had trouble like this with our two Nissan Maxima and two Hondas (Civic & CRV)!

Easy to drive.

Although my car is easy to drive, it doesn't do hills very well. The Rocky mountains leaves the car in the right hand lane pulling hills. Everyone is passing me except for the large semi trucks. It's disappointing to say the least.

Good Solid Car

I've had my car for five years and it has performed well. The lack of spare tire and the non-functioning EFT (what is that?) has been bothersome, but it continues to be a solid performing car. I will probably not buy another and look at other makes/model cars.

My Elantra which Is Almost 7 Years Old

I would probably not buy another Elantra - sure did not get the mileage I thought I would get - not even close. It had a nice roomy back seat and a good-sized truck. Did not have any choice about interior. I would buy a larger car next time as most handle better on the road.

Hyundai Elantra

The auto is six years old now and it is not ageing well. Light bulbs fail frequently Gas mileage is not as good as when the car was first purchased. Not as much engine power as it used to have. When first purchased vehicle was great.

Close, but no Cigar!

I would have given the car five stars, if it weren't for the integrity of the paint, which has chipped and peeled ALL OVER the car, making it an embarrassing eyesore for me to drive. Additionally, at the time Hyundai misrepresented the average miles per gallon. They were supposed to make up for it, but I have yet to see the payment, as the situation has been pending at least five years due to court appeals.

2012 Elantra Disappointment

I've had my Elantra 7 yrs and there could be improvement on the material used for the headlamps. The headlamps do not hold up to the sun or weather. Please go back to the good old days and use glass headlamps. Also the clear coat/paint is flaking off on my front bumper and side mirrors. For $23000.00 the vehicle should last a lot long than that. Also the motor has always made a loud clicking noise but I've always been told that was normal and nothing was wrong. I mentioned it several times to the service department. Also the gas mileage was not what was advertised. I was promised a gas card in the beginning and then there was a class action lawsuit but I've yet to receive anything. So no I really wouldn't recommend this vehicle.

2012 Hyundai Elantra

This is an evaluation of my own opinion of my car since i purchased it in August 2011. The smoothness of the ride is a little rough but to be expected with low profile tires. The front of the car has been very noisy some time after the 60,000 mile mark. I like the style and would buy another Hyundai if I would buy another car.

just average

bought for price, gas mileage & comfort. major complaints: car is very light & subject to wind pushing it around & no real snow traction. front windshield is subject to outside reflection, but this may be true to all sedan models with aerodynamic design. tire sensor light comes on every year on 1st cold day & dealer evaluation is $150, so I just let the light stay on now.

Don't buy a Hyundai

The car gets only 60 percent of the promised gas mileage and the warranty didn't cover the airbags. The customer who didn't have $480 handy to get the airbag fixed would just go without an airbag and that's DANGEROUS. Buy a Honda, Toyota or Buick and stay AWAY from Hyundai.

I bought this car from a friend. It really hasn't given us any problems. We are just not happy with how it rides. Looking to upgrade soon. Ours have very few miles. its been driven by two grandmas so not mistreated.

Reliable for the first hundred thousand miles ?

I got the 100,000 mile warranty and they were pretty good about getting me in and fixing things but the dealership also told me there would be loaner cars if my car was in the shop for warranty related repairs. They never had a loaner car and I always had to rent a car will they worked on mine. It was supposed to get 30,000 miles to the gallon and was more like 20,000. I like the car it served me well and I'm pretty rough on vehicles.

Disappointing

Our 2012 Elantra did not live up to expectations. Primarily, the fuel economy is worse than advertised. Evidently Hyundai was hit with a class action suit about it. However, that complaint was about highway mpg being over estimated. That's not my experience. In my case, the epa city estimate is higher than real life. The epa estimate is 29 mpg. I'm lucky to get 24 in town. Since this is where I do 95 % of my driving, it's kind of a big deal. When we first got the car (new) the mileage was even worse, maybe 21 mpg in town. I told the dealer about this several times, and was told I was probably driving it wrong. Well, after several months of dismal mpg, and several talks with the dealer, they said they had a bulletin from Hyundai, and there was a computer "reflash" they could perform. After they did that, the mpg improved, but still not to where it should be. Secondly, our car makes a horrible sound from the engine when first started in the morning. The dealer tells me this is normal. I've never had a car make this noise, so I have a hard time believing that.

Too many blind spots on vehicle makes it dangerous to drive. Does not provide as high mpg as promised, and reimbursement for that has become a pain in the gas tank.

Too many blind spots on vehicle, sides and front, makes it dangerous to drive. Does not provide as high mpg as promised, and reimbursement for that has become a pain in the gas tank. I would never have traded in my other car if I had realized the mpg was a boast. I continue to get all kinds of spam and mailings because my name, address and email was sold to other companies after I bought my car. That has never happened when I bought a new Honda in the past. Brake rotors are cheap, rear brake system too small. Not good back support on front seats. Trunk release sticks, or does not hold trunk shut so I find it is open a lot overnight without my being aware of it until morning. Transmission adjustments needed twice, with only 30,000 miles on vehicle. I had to take my car for warranty repairs to Lafontaine Hyundai in Dearborn, Michigan and got convince to buy a fuel system cleaner that I did not need for over $250. I sat for hours at the dealership while a minor repair was being done. That is why I hate going to dealerships. That is not what I experienced with Honda. I am reall
