Buy new or don't buy it at all

I bought the 2013 Hyundai in May of 2018 with only 55k miles & we've had little issue after little issue. $300 here, $350 there is becoming a hassle. If you buy a Hyundai, buy it NEW or don't buy it at all. 55k miles isn't a lot but this car drives like it was previously used as a rental car.

My fourth hyundai

I love Hyundai, however my present one, 2013 Elantra, has issues. Way too low to the ground. Plus, the fabric on all the seats shows so many spots..it is embarrassing. Won't buy another one. I had Sonatas before and they were used, but much better looking. Seats were leather, didn't show anything.

Low profile tyres are not comfortable.

I had to change low profile 8 times in 5 years and within 70k miles. Tyres are expensive for small car. 50k service cost was more than 10% of vehicle cost. Within 5 years i have spent ~$1000.00 Thank you

I think this car has a lot of issues and is not worth the money spent. This car is cute but there are too many issues I feel like it was made very quickly & without care or concern for the driver. I would not tell friends to buy this vehicle.

Money's Worth

The Hyundai Elantra ended up being a good vehicle for the money. Took 5 yrs to payoff, but Hyundai Service Dept did good job of fixing any recall issues, regular maintenance, and following recommended servicing. The ONLY complaint might be the low profile tires, which meant rough rides, especially in Mililani where tree roots pushing up pavement, made riding uncomfortable. WE did not take it for a test drive on rough roads, so that was "on us." Otherwise, good mileage, and enjoyed free wash and wax when serviced at Hyundai dealership.

Car Review

Overall, we’re very satisfied & happy owning the car. However, we’re not happy with the outside window trimmings starting to brittle and pulling apart. Also, break light and signal light keeps on burning out.

Decent car for the money

Overall the car has been great but it did have some mechanical issues such as transmission repair. This is very stylish car which caught my attention at the car dealership and from the cars that I have test driven, this was one of the best. Only issue was that I had to bring it back to the dealership to get it repaired.

Electrical Problems

My 2013 is “Great” overall; however, Hyundai’s known ignorance of the “ELECTRICAL” problem is UNACCEPTABLE. Hyndai knows there should have been a RECALL. You need a feature we’re the customer can feel secure that oil was changed and not a reset button because not all your technical teams have integrity.

It’s a ok car. Love the gas mileage but nothing to get excited about. Now I dislike it more for making me type so much! I won’t do this again! Actually now your car sucks and I won’t recommend your car to anyone!

Not Bad Thankful for the Warranty

I’ve had my car since 2013 and it’s finally paid off in full. I had my engine replaced at 89,000 miles for free thankfully for 10 year 100,000 mile warranty, this warranty is only for new car buyers however. The turn around wasn’t too long just about a month and a half for a new engine. Only have ever had to do minor repairs on things due to wear and tear (outside of the engine) just don’t go to the dealership for these items. Will cost you more than you have remaining on your loan.

Elantra 2013

It is a good car, no problems whatsoever with its running. I find it too low for getting in and out of the car, and I am not a tall person but I always or most of the time I should say I hit my head getting into the car. My next car is going to be like the Kona or similar. I drove for years a Ford Escape which I loved and felt safer driver a taller car. There are a couple of blind spots in the Elantra that bothers me. Everything else is fine.

These rims are the bane of my existence.

For some reason we bought an Elantra that apparently had nothing more than rubber bands around the ridiculous rims that came with the car. It's a 2013 with 40,000 miles (pretty low) and we've gone through 2 sets of tires so far in Seattle. Granted, we've learned now to only drive an SUV or something with more substantial tires, but this car forms bubbles in the sidewalls after going over a speed-bump. I notice every other Hyundai going forward has had much more reasonable tires as a default and I wish ours did too. Oh well.

I love my car. I have a few issues. The car is so low in the front and back that I cannot see how close I am to the curb or parking concrete stops. It scratches the front end and I am afraid of hitting them. I have trouble in the winter on snow and ice. It should have more add-on features for safety on the car, side view is hard to see.

Brakes suck!

My brakes scrape floor on some certain surfaces, this is scary! I have been having a recurring problem with brake lights where they are dim. I brought it in for service several times and it still had the same issue, they changed the harness and I had to pay, this should have been covered under warranty. So unfair!

Doesn't hold a value

My 2013 vehicle is already way less than what I have to pay on it depreciation is sad. The engine pushes the RPMs really quickly no matter when I step on the gas and I just had to change the crankshaft sensor. the car is too new for me to having this many problems already

Reasonable performance car.

I love the car but would appreciate it even more if it had rear end shock absorbers! Brakes very roughly during emergencies. The steering turning angle is fantastic! The best feature of the car other than its sleek body.

Good Car for cheap

It's been a pretty good car, but I've had some issues with it. Had to have it towed a few times, once because it wouldn't start but a jump didn't fix it, once because of flat tires and there are no spares in the car. Had to take it in for a few recalls as well. My biggest complaint is the paint chipping from all of the door handles. Seems to be an issue with all the cars from 2006-2016.

Great car, bad engine

Love the car, it's a solid vehicle outside of the engine. Mine is 2013 and after I was outside of the return milage I found out that half of the vehicles will see engine failure for a common defect before 100k miles. Hyundai knows this, even fixes in Canada free of charge. I was under a second owner Warranty so I didn't pay the whole $9,000 bill. But it was a hard $4,200 to be charged. The car is great, but it's a manufacturer error from the assembly line that they are bidding under the rug. Engine repairs should be covered in full for this defect.

Elantra

Car is dependable but for a senior, not especially comfortable. It has crazy quirks, trunk will fly open as you get into car because I've pressed wrong part of key fob; occasionally when pressing on horn, a female voice will ask if I need help - pretty disconcerting. Car is 10 years old and until this year repairs, maintenance has been relatively inexpensive.
