2016 Elantra Limited--Would purchase it again
Pretty much feel this is the best choice between the top 3 (Elantra, Corolla and Mazda 3), and we did our homework and checked them all out thoroughly. It's a dead heat with Corolla on features, but the number of Toyota recalls and the better Hyundai warranty made the decision easier. The car is comfortable, we think it has a higher end look and interior feel than comparable models in other makers, and the mileage is killer . . . 36-37 on the freeway with Eco drive is a reality. BUT the front end has lower clearance than we would like (vs. our old Corolla) and driving down our Arizona ranch dirt road in Cochise County or over high curbs (or backing out of our Tucson driveway) and scraping the front made us very aware that it is an issue that has to be watched. This is our transportation car where we need dependability and good mileage for frequent commuting, the truck serves for the rest, and so far we are pretty satisfied with it. Our last Corolla was still running well at 240K, so we'll see how time proves if the Elantra was the best choice going forward, I hope so!
