Not my favorite Hyundai

This is my 3rd Hyundai and my second leased vehicle and have to say this is not my favorite. The last one I had was the Veloster and I really miss the car. The Elantra doesn't have as much pep and the screen for the back up camera, radio and phone seems to be smaller and can't really see it as well as in the Veloster. The Veloster also had Blue Link which came with the rental aggrement and this one doesn't. Overall it's ok but not my favorite. I wish I still had the Veloster.

Not as expected

The 2016 Elantra looks great on the outside. But reliability needs improvement. I had it less than a year the transmission line came off driving on the interstate, I have had transmission slipping issues since. I was having severe gas mileage issues 3 months in had to bring it in to be serviced. The seat adjustment had issues after the 1St week and needed service. I really wanted to give the car back. I still do. I just don't trust it's reliability. It doesn't come with a spare and fighting with who is responsible for roadside assistance is a nightmare! I waited over an hour and half on the interstate for my transmission issue and had to use my vehicle insurance company not the manufacturer roadside assistance warranty due to my location. As a disabled older lady this is not an ideal situation. Luckily I have protection.

There is a definite problem with the ride of the 2016. Rides hard and the back end sways when hitting manhole covers, expansion joints etc on the roadway.

Very sporty and good looking car. Steering is very sensitive and transmission is at times uneven. Not very good in snow or bad weather conditions. Molding and door bumper have come loose as happened on last Hyundai.

Got the basic model it didnt come with any standard features like steering wheel radio controls and the steering on the 2016 model feels stiff no like the 2013 model

Vehicle review

Overall I love my car. If you are a big person like I am period I am 6 foot 3 and weigh 300 lb broad shoulders. I have a tough time squeezing in and out of the car. Got to be something engineering can do to make that easy.

Disappointed

It doesn't have a smooth ride. The wipers were the worst I ever had. Tire traction is terrible with just a little bit of snow cover. I'm glad I leased it.

Over-all opinion

Slight hesitation when going in and out of traffic. Mp3 player through USB port unpredictable upon start up. AC takes too long to get cold and cool off interior.
