A Good Value with Technology that needs to.improve

Bought 9/29/17. Enjoy driving the vehicle. Believed in safety features, until the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection & Smart Cruise Control (SCC) broke down around 10,000 miles, which means that cruise control, vehicle following, etc stopped working! And it took almost 40 days to get the vehicleback, as the replacement part that Hyundai sent also failed during the testing in the Hyundai service center! This safety package was one of the key reasons, in addition to being a loyal Hyundai owner (Own another vehicle), that I bought the Elantra. But whenby his safety feature broke, it took a piece of my trust away. Also, the mileage could use some improvement as what's claimed is not what I get (about 33% lower!). And I drive at speed limits without rapid acceleration or braking!

2017 Elantra SE

Purchased April 1, 2017. Serviced per schedule through July 2018. In September 2018 battery died. Towed to dealer, got replacement per warranty. Two weeks later new battery died. Brought to dealer, got replaced per warranty. Two weeks later battery died again, jumped and drove to dealer. Was told by Service Rep and Service Manager that I should run car every day to keep it loaded. Absurd!!! Attempt to use car at least once a week, cross myself now and pray the car starts before turning the key. Previously purchased a 2006 Elantra at same dealership, had it for eleven years and sold it with original battery. Wish I had it still!!!

Cute but not a winter car

Will be looking for AWD upon next lease renewal. Interested maybe in the new Kona if price is right. Car does not handle well in Buffalo winters. And seat material stains very easy...even with just water.

Great gas milage very comfortable I'm 6'6" 250lb and I'm comfortable stereo could be Better not crazy about transmission out of The blue it will shift very hard like the transmission falling out and tires it comes with not good in rain.

Like this car

I do like the car overall there are many features that I like, but we have had several situations with the heater not warming up properly and we have had car back a few times for what I think is a problem with the blind spot detection and cross traffic warning, dealer says it is working properly BUT it doe not always detect ross traffic coming from also has a lot of road noisepass side and traffic on that side as well

It’s nice but would love a CD player, fuses go out to quick. Good gas mileage. It’s small when you have three kids n grandson . Need a sun roof that would set it off and windows tinted. It small for three kids and a grandson

Mediocre quality

I’ve only owned my 2017 Hyundai Elantra for 2 years. However, in that time, I’ve had 2 engine cylinders require service. I’d be lying if I did not admit that I am concerned about the engine quality if in two years I’ve had this serious problem this early.

Having more issues than usual with a brand new/ slightly used car.

Since I’ve leased this 2017 Elantra, I have had several issues that should not be occuring with a new vehicle. I have had a bad battery/ dead car within 2 yrs of purchasing, a door handle replaced,(broken locks) & I even had to fix/replace the thermostat & hoses for some reason. I’ve been with City World Hyundai for 6 years now (2 Sedans) & I will be looking to lease a Truck as soon as possible. I never expected to have so many issues with a new car.

Driver Seat comfort is lacking,. Sound system quality cannot compare to my 2011 Hyundai Sonata (Still own) which is sad and suspension is lacking. You missed the mark. These three items would prevent me from purchasing it again. Unless you want to upgrade/fix these items then I would be extremely happy. By the way this is a second request in 18 months.

Heater

Apparently 2017 Elantras are very slow to warm up on cold days (10-15 minutes). Makes for a very cold drive. Use the seat heater to get warm while driving. My Honda would warm up within 5 minutes with hot air coming out of the heater.

Meh.

Quiet, pleasant, well-appointed. Loss of points for (1) poor acceleration from a stop - sport mode is a help but this should be improved; (2) BlueLink is unreliable and has an approximately 20% failure rate on remote start requests, and (3) Android Auto stopped working within 16 months of the car, despite using multiple cables and different devices.

Parts

Too many things break for only 30k plus mile. Air compressor, door locks, gas cap. Other things acting up. Have to wait for them to fully break. Service is fantastic. Calling in for service is murky. The call center tells you one thing . They don’t seem to be concerned.

My car is already showing signs of rust I feel buying this car new it should NOT be showing signs of rust. When it comes time for me to get another new car there is a good chance I will be looking for a different dealership and a different make & model.

Wish it was better

Everything about it could have been better fair ride brakes crap motor needs turbo interior very bland was surprised I'm 6'5" and I fit very nice Transmission is not good shakes and shutters When started in morning usually whisper quiet.

Cold engine knocking

Was totally satisfied with vehicle till experiencing winter temperatures. No longer have confidence in the engines mechanics noise issue was so loud under cold starts that I am convinced engine will never last. It’s a real disappointment, thought Elantra was a great product but can’t imagine its longevity. Obviously an issue, lots of same complaints on the web.

Elantra

This has nothing to do with the customer service, it was fantastic. When I am in the market for another vehicle, I probably will look elsewhere. Although they have improved tremendously since the beginning of the company and the Elantra has the bells and whistles for instance it has a lot more standard technology, the car is just not comfortable to drive, hear a lot of road noise and its clunky at low speed.

The 2017 has less features than my 2010 Hyundai and cost so much more Had to replace the battery at less than 20,000 miles. Check engine lighr can on at 20,000 miles. I am just fortunate the dealer is accommodating

Automatic Transmission not what I expected. Great looks, drives Fast, fast and fast Good breaks, Well equipped . Automatic Transmission is clunky and noisy It always wants to drive at high revs, it doesn't manage well at low revs Is not a smooth drive
