Biggest Bang for Your Buck
When I purchased my 2018 Elantra Sport, I knew it topped its class, but I honestly was not expecting its power to be this well utilized. The low end torque mixed with the minimal turbo lag makes for an extremely well-optimized torque curve for a 1.6L engine. Totally astounding to easily walk on Focus ST's, Civic SI's, and WRX's with a Hyundai Elantra. It totally caught me off-guard when it pulled on a Chevy Impala SS with the 5.3L v8. In addition to its performance, Hyundai engineers have perfected the exhaust note to keep the stock interior muffling extremely calm and quite while having an aggressive exhaust note that pops and crackles, preventing my friends from believing I kept it stock. The turbo spooling is even audible. Also, the DCT designed for this vehicle handles its power effectively enough to roast the tires yet keep them mounted to the pavement, giving each shift a sharp push into the next gear. I absolutely love the eliminated paddle shifter delay that I've never experienced in any car in its class - literally instant shifting through the paddle shifters and the additional slap-shift feature they have retained. Finally, the Elantra Sport is simply on rails. The redesigned rear suspension in the Sport is ridiculously firm and pulls the rear end out every time it feels like the car is about to understeer. Overall an outstanding vehicle from Hyundai that nobody expects to perform like it does.
