Hyundai is seriously on the up and up
I owned a 2010 Elantra GLS that died an honorable death at the hands of a Kia Sorrento. I had bought that car brand new, and at the time of its death, it had 253,625 miles. I did some shopping around as I was not in any way prepared financially, or emotionally to buy a new vehicle. After looking at the Chevy Cruze, Toyota Corolla, Kia Forte, and Nissan Sentra, (All USED btw) i couldnt beat the price and feature list of the 2018 Elantra VE.
First of all, this car is SO FUN TO DRIVE. In every sense of the word, it has this defiant pep in its step, almost as if it is trying to show itself off. It took some getting used to having a Dual Clutch Transmission but once the computer caught up with me its been a perfect match ever since. I get an upwards of anywhere from 38 to 44 mpg with Jersey Driving. It corners like a champ and gives such a smooth and comfy ride in Normal Mode. In Sport mode, you can add a little seriousness to your maneuvering. The car has personalities to fit your mood on any given day.
The infotainment system is pretty advanced, having the capability to download apps through Android Auto. I personally dont use this feature as i prefer a less 'connected' driving experience. But its really cool that as soon as i get into my car, the Bluetooth picks up whatever music i am playing on my phone.
Im still getting used to Keyless Proximity Keys and have misplaced them a few times.
I have had the car for 6 weeks and have put on 3,700 miles and honestly, there isnt anything I dont like about it. (I lied...i really miss having an ignition switch and key)
Some notes: The car has a really sophisticated safety restraint system, with advanced sensors in the seats to detect passenger movement. If you happen to have an electronic device connected to the USB port in the car, and then leave that device on the seat, a false seatbelt warning will light up. Dont freak out, this is by design, and is totally normal, albeit annoying.
Having been heartbroken over the loss of my other Elantra, i didnt expect to bond with this car as quickly as I did. But its so sophisticated and so much fun to drive. Hyundai really outdid themselves. Also for what its worth, my car looks sexy as hell parked next to those other models.
