Love My Sonata!

My 2009 Sonata has over 147k miles and continues to perform beyond expectations. Maintenance performed but no major issues encountered since I purchased the vehicle in September 2008.

Long term ownership experience with 2009 Sonata LTD 4 cyl.

The car has performed as expected and I just traded in a 2014 that we had over this car as I prefer it. The cabin room is large for a vehicle in its class. The ride is solid and the front brakes went 62 thousand miles, with mostly city driving. The alignment has remained bullet proof all these years, and the interior has held up well. The current miles are 63000 and in retrospect, I should have taken the sales guys advice: the difference between the 6 and the 4 on mileage is minimal. He was spot on about that, still...I held out for a 4 cylinder. Good motor and it has enough power at the '09 rating of 182HP, It only averages about 19-22 with in town driving, about what my friends with the 6 get. We garage it when its not in use, and the paint looks as good as the day I bought it. Better infact than the 14 sedan that I traded in from another manufacturer. Tires went 60 thousand as well, but I changed out the factory Hankooks for Michielins early on and just replaced the original Michelins with a new set. Negatives: I still don't care for the a/c fan switch config but I got used to it. I miss the back up camera with the 14 sedan but my friend Jon Cami owner of Proguard Auto in Scottsdale AZ (shameless plug here) will put one in for me with Bluetooth for a few hundred dollars and Ill be back on top. Second rub with me is the front suspension. I just had the front bushings re done and I expected it to get the rebound rumble from the struts to dissapate or go away. Didnt happen.That has been an annoyance I'm hyper sensitive to vehicular noise...squeaks rattles clunks, buzzes whistles ...you name it. If you are looknig for a solid midsize safe car for your kids find one with these kind of miles and buy it. Thye are cheap to keep and offer an above standard crash worthiness, along with side curtan air bags...an in frequent offernig at this price point back in 09. All in all its a great car and its a timing chain motor not a timing belt motor. Big difference and Hyundai has been there for many years now.

Why to Buy a Hyundai Sonata

I have had this car 8 years and only been in garage for repair twice. Window problems. Only normal maintenance for rest of time. I get 32 miles per gallon on trips and about 20 miles per gallon in city. Car is has easy to use instrument panel. I like it so well that I bought a new 2016 Sonata and kept the old one. New Sonata gets 35 miles per gallon on highway.

Impressive Hyundai Sonata

I was always a Honda owner......first the Civic and then two Accords. When the transmission went out in my second Accord, I rented a Hyundai Sonata until I could buy a new car. I loved the Sonata - it was a comfortable, smooth drive....roomy, with features my Honda did not have. Of course it was newer than my Accord, so the extra features were to be expected, but the whole package was impressive. After doing some research, I found the Sonata and Accord were both excellent vehicles, and compared to one another, they were extremely similar in performance and reliability. So, I bought a Sonata, because it was considerably better priced and a great value for the money! I have had my Sonata for seven years and love it! You can't go wrong with this car. If looking at buying a Honda Accord, consider the Hyundai Sonata instead!

Great Car.

I have been very satisfied with this car. The only reason I did not rate it a 5 stars is the lighting of the dash almost impossible to read during daytime. Otherwise the power of the V6 is great, too bad they dropped it, and the traditional styling I prefer over the newer style which look like every other car on the road.

'09 Hyundai Sonata Limited

My Sonata has only 36,000 miles on it. It had only 18,600 miles on it when I bought it at Miller Hyundai from Dave Petrolle on 12/31/14. I bought the top level Mechanical service contract on it from Bob Austin. I love the way it handles, like wearing a comfortable shoe, and the way its 3.3 V6 is so peppy an engine, with plenty of get up and go for all driving conditions. I love the leather seats and other Limited features that it has. The only thing I do not like is the fact that it does not have an easily replaceable spin on oil filter.

GREAT CAR

I HAVE ENJOYED DRIVING MY SONATA FOR 8 YEARS AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT.IT IS COMFORTABLE TO DRIVE AND TO RIDE IN. I WOULD RECOMMEND A HYUNDAI TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A RELIABLE CAR.

Sports car speed with luxury feel

Buy it if you need reliable

I like my Sonata but wish I has added a few extras just to make it easier and added comfort. I like the programmable doors that keep me from locking my keys in the car while they're in the ignition. I like that the program also let's me unlock the driver door, unlock again is the passenger door, and the third click will unlock the back doors.

Overall good car and no issues. Only drawback is dashboard cracked over passenger side airbag. NHSTA known issue for same year and model but Hyundai not doing anything about it :(
