Tooo many recalls

Im tired of being bombarded with letters for a recall. Its great that some warranties are extended, but I don't feel as safe as I used to. Hyundai needs to work on putting quality parts in their cars.

Good Car

I really like my car overall. However, my voice/blue tooth/hands free feature has never worked properly. Also, my car does not cool off. In Texas summers where average temps are often 100+ this does not work. I would not buy this vehicle again for that reason alone.

Oil consumption

I have a 2013 Sonata turbo which burns oil at the rate of about a quart every 900 miles....164,000 miles. I also have a 2006 Sonata V6 with 214,000 miles...it burns no oil whatsoever. I am looking for a new car but hesitate to buy another with the 4 cylinder engine. Have heard too much about oil consumption.

A/C poor quality

Purchased car new. Very good on gas and smooth ride. Front passenger seat sits too low. Feels like you are in a hole. .Very Disappointed in A/C quality . Should not have to replace compressor on 6 yr old car. My previous Toyota A/C lasted 15 yrs. Will consider another brand when time to buy again.

Not what I expected.

I bought this car new based on what the advertised gas mileage (about 24 MPG city and better than 31 MPG highway). However, I am disappointed with the performance of the car. Only on rare occasion did I get up to 25 MPG (combined city and highway driving). The vast majority of times is around 21 - 22 MPG.

I love my Hyundai but...

I love my Hyundai, but I am not happy that my engine died and when going to be serviced I was informed that there was a recall on all 2013,2014,2015, etc. engines. I heard nothing from corporate and that is not good P.R. Luckily i was able to get a new engine for free because of it.

Too many problems

I have enjoyed all of the luxury items I have in the Sonata, however I am very disappointed in all of the recall notices that the Sonata has generated. They were all taken care of. I do not drive a lot and am disappointed that my car with only 340000miles had a transmission sensor go bad and the steering wheel coupler also had to be replaced,which was taken care of. both things happened at the same time when I was alone in the car and I was scared to drive home.

Sonata

The Sonata has been a nice ride. If I had it to do over again I would have upgraded to a car with better adjustable seats. As short as I am there is a lot of blind spots. I set to low even with highest adjustments. The car performance is very good. It is reliable and comfortable for city driving.

Recallmobile

I’ve never had a car with so many active recalls however the Hyundai experience has been great. All recalls fixed in a timely manner with loaner cars. Overall drive has been pretty good. Repairs needed (such as wheel bearing etc) weren’t horribly expensive.

Terrible Sound System

We like the vehicle enough but the sound/gps/back-up camera system has been replaced once and needs to be replaced again. We had no air conditioning for 2-1/2 years because there was a leak in a hose.

wear and tear sounds start at 80K miles, 2004 model held up better

the plastic stopper to the console breaks off easily so the console top does not latch, was informed by the parts dept that a lot of customers have reported that as well, I did not want to spend $103 to have it replaced.

Love my car but I wish the headlights didn’t go off unexpectedly

Overall I love my sonata heated seats power windows ease of hand free cell phone but there is an issue with the headlights doesn’t happen often but driving at night and usually when I turn right my headlights go off for a second and come back on after googling it I see that many people have an issue like mine the dealership couldn’t get it to duplicate the problem so for now I’ll try not to make right turns at night

Lot of recalls on this 2013 vehicle

I had to have the engine replaced as a recall 3 years ago. I got another recall for the engine just last October 2020. I’ve had other recalls on this model. From 2011 to 2014. I think those are the years. I’m not for sure.

Got it cheap

Not going to buy one of these again. Stick to Toyota or Honda. I am not really looking forward to the engine giving out around 140K miles, but the verdict is in. These cars have been out for awhile, so take care of that engine like you are suppose to(oil change, gas additive, etc), and you may get a little extra mileage on your engine.

Love my Sonata, do not like Hyundai warranty service

This is my third Hyundai Sonata, I love them, but my engine failed at 98,500 miles I have perfect service records Merrill was change three times a year I’ve done all my major services I’ve taken in for every call but I was left on the side of the road with no coverage for a tow truck of course and 80 days to get my engine replaced and it took them like two days to do it but it was mostly Hyundai not sending the parts that they needed since apparently they don’t really care if I buy another SonataI will not be doing so I’ll be looking someplace else for my next new car After being a loyal Hyundai customer for over 15 years now

Ehh

Good looking but let’s be serious, Toyota and Honda are better choices. It’s a great car if you don’t have one, but if you can afford this car you can afford a Corolla, a Civic, or a Camry, all of which are better made.

2013 sonata

It wasn't as exciting as my first purchase (it never is). But I enjoy driving it. Has a lot of pick up an go. Love the color and compass is a wonderful thing. I can always get where I'm going if I know what direction I am headed. I probably would buy another one.
