Plagued

This was our 4th Hyundai, but probably our last. Gone downhill. The 1st 3 were the most trouble-free cars ever. This one: lot of failures and at least 3 recalls.

Not the best purchase

Unfortunately, having my "new" car for less than a week I experienced some issues. This is not to say the car is a poor quality vehicle but with the current issues I can't give a good rating at moment. My first vehicle was a Hyundai Sonata standard and I loved it. The new model is supposed to be somewhat fuel efficient but I have not found them to be so. It seems to burn about the same amount of gas as my former Lincoln Navigator. However, it does have some of the current technology i.e. bluetooth, which is great. I don't have to burn the battery of my phone and it provides me with hands-free ability.

Unhappy Customer

I've had this car 4.5 years and have had 5 recalls. I was over charged for the car and with only about 20k miles the care has had constant recalls. The passengers seat is too low for comfort. and the side view mirrors are horrible. It's hard to see cars on either side. I have had front end alignment and new tires within the last month, car still rides bumpy hard. I tried to return the car 1 day after purchase and the original dealer refused to return my trade-in. and I was lead to believe I had no other choice but to keep this car. I had to get a lawyer to regain some of my loss for over payment. I have not been happy with this car recalls not sure what problems to expect after Hyundai warranty is over!.

Issues for a newer vehicle

My radio just randomly quit working. My Sonata is a 2014 and should not be experiencing this already. To fix, will be $635. Not happy with this. I also have shake in front end and no one can seem to get it resolved.

Unimprrssed with my 2013 Sonata

I’ve been disappointed with the number of part failures and issues with my 2013 Sonata. With only 85K miles I’ve had several expensive repairs required. And I bought it certified used with 38K miles.

Recall, recall recall. How many recalls are they

There have been at least 4 recalls on this vehicle. However the latest issue is electrical when you have flashes of light when you use your turn signal or the lights go completely off for a second. It doesn't happen every time. Or you leave your lights on after you park and the automatic lights are suppose to go off and the headlights do but the taillights does not. This is my 3rd Hyundai (2 Santa Fe), I am having questions if I made the correct choice. Car is noisy when using the blue-tooth while driving. Wife refuses to talk to me on the phone while driving.

2013 Sonata

The car runs smooth but there was no consideration paid to the exterior. The shine came off and when I tried waxing it, the paint was coming off in the towel. There is also some sort of plastic film on the handles that is pealing off. The car looks 20 years older than it is.

Hyundai Sonata

Car is good looking, but other factors prevent a good recommendation, such as: (1) Poor Mileage; (2) Going for service is a hassle. Cars are lined up with no one in sight; (3) Have had my car completed when promised for service. Not once!; (4) The dealer automatically used my telephone number and email address to contact me in order to market a new car, without my request or permission.

will never buy again

too many safety recalls. interior does not stand up well to normal wear-and-tear. and lastly, I have never had a light housing 'melt and fuse'; i was unable to change the bulb myself and the dealer recommended 2 new housings to correct the issue. but for me to have to absolve the entire cost? unheard of.

Nothing but trouble!

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata is a bit of a mess. I have owned several Hyundai's and have never had the amount of problems I've had with this Sonata. From recalls that could mean total engine failure to faulty steering that makes road trips a struggle, almost everything about this car makes me wish I had bought a different model. I have a constant TPMS light come on whenever I road trip that the dealership has "fixed" several times but still occurs and now that I'm out of warranty I have to pay for. My 2008 Santa Fe tells you which tire is low on pressure but not the 2013 Sonata limited, it doesn't tell you which tire it thinks is the problem. Oh, one more thing, there is so much shiny plastic inside this car that you may get blinded just driving during the day with all the reflections in this car.

Car is giving ac problem just after warranty over

My car is 55k and 65 month only and it’s started blowing hot air. No body covered as part of warranty as base warranty over and CPO won’t cover. So as customer I have spoke to dealer and Hyundai. Hyundai’s response is your base warranty over. CPO doesn’t cover and dealer said they can’t do anything. Feeling bad to too much money even after buying certified preowned Car. And only 55k miles

poorly maintained

Dont think the Sonata is a bad vehicle, I accually like the Sonata. But the one that was sold to me was very poorly maintained before being sold to me and I think the dealer ship has been nickle and dimeing me since I got it, and all I was told that is that what you have to deal with when buying used.

Noisy

I drive a 2013 Sonata 2.0 Turbo. It is really noisy in the cabin of the vehicle. We have to shout to hear one another from front to back seat. It drives okay and gas mileage is very good. The styling is pretty good.

Lemon

This was very unpleasant from the beginning. We have had constant problems with this car. The engine blew up which was extremely dangerous and seems like the car is off balanced which is extremely dangerous to drive.

brake issues

still unresolved issues, numerous factory recalls. engine knocks periodically and uses oil, but yet service center says nothing is wrong. brakes make noise like they are rubbing but service center says its how the company made them I drive with Grandchildren in the car so I don't like it

Sonata

The car itself is nice and comfortable. But the recalls are getting a bit out of controll. Bought the car in 2012 and have had at least 5-6 recalls. And not for little things either. I’m talking. Seatbelt anchor. Air bag fuses. Engine blocks. Oil sticks (shredding into oil/engine) and I just was reading about a fire hazard due to a falty recall on the engines. Love the car but will never get a Hyundi again.

Sonata is just not as good as Camry and Accord

My car has just under 30k miles on it and it is now 6 years old. It squeaks and creeks everywhere. I have a Toyota Camry that is 25 years old that I have passed on to my children that squeaks less. I would not buy another Sonata.

Looks can be deceiving

The look of this car is the reason for the purchase. The inside very roomy and comfy. The tires are excellent and I like the fact that there is a slight tent on the windows. Keeps out the bright sunlight so that you are able to see. Don't think it save on gas and the steering column is not stable, feels like the car wants to do its own thing. Doesn't feel safe when I drive when it windy, rainy or snowing.
