My Review On My 2012 Ford Escape Limited

I’ve owned my 2012 Ford Escape Limited for many years, and with over 175,000 miles on it, it has proven to be an incredibly reliable and dependable vehicle. Up until recently—when the air conditioner began blowing hot air—I’ve had virtually no problems with it. This vehicle has served me extremely well, especially for work. I’ve used it regularly to haul my landscaping equipment, including a lawnmower, weed and tree trimmers, brooms, rakes, trash cans, and other gear needed for the job. It has also doubled as a work vehicle for moving furniture, including beds, without any issues. The cargo space is generous and very practical. One of the standout features is its excellent fuel economy. I can drive all week on a single tank of gas, which has been a huge benefit over the years. The Escape comfortably seats five passengers, offering plenty of room for everyone. The rear storage area is spacious, making it perfect for groceries, tools, and everyday hauling needs. In terms of performance, the 4-cylinder engine holds up very well. It keeps pace with traffic on the highway and interstate without any struggle. The ride is smooth and comfortable, making it enjoyable for both short trips and longer drives. Overall, I would rate this vehicle very highly. It has been durable, versatile, and dependable in every way. If I were in the market for a 2012 vehicle, the Ford Escape Limited would absolutely be my top choice. Ford Motor Company did a great job designing this SUV.

Better than my old Mercury Mariner

I loved my 2009 Mercury Mariner and it died at 237,450 miles. I was finally able to get my Ford Escape Limited 2012 last year (2025) and it's been doing great gas milage (fill it every 4 days,unless I do a lot of long distance driving). I got it used for $6800 and tires w/ front brakes were first major issue to resolve. I took off the rusted spare tire & eliminated the extra 40lbs I was never going to need. That was recommended by Consumer Reports & AAA if you weren't able to change tires because of health/age issues; it saves gas by getting rid of it. I would never have been able to roll under the suv, remove a salted fused on metal tire well or be able to take off the tire by myself...that's why I have AAA! Every time I replace something it's because previous owners didnt do any work on it/probably got rid of it for the expensive replacements that need to be done. The body has little rust,I love the heated seats and it drives much quieter than the Mariner ever did. It also doesn't have the double mufflers so when it comes to repairs, I only have (1)setup/piece to replace = cheaper repairs. Best of all, it's an American car so parts will be less expensive than foreign suvs. I can fit so much stuff into its square ass, the newer models are rounded and can't hold as much. I find it a very dependable, hard working suv that needs a little TLC now for lifetime enjoyment.

Keeping the old!!

Second, Ford Escape. Seat fits short legs, a “Ladies” car! Adequate hatch back for golf clubs to fit. Hatch back door is not powered, which is good for arm & shoulder exercise all year long. Good for golf. Have had little or no problems with the car that my local auto mechanic can't fix.

Okaybut far from great.

Very uncomfortable to drive any distance. Had a 2012 good gas mileage but cd player went early on. Had rust starting under gas door. When I checked with dealer to see about fixing they tod me it was defect in design an water gets trapped under rim.Lasted 13 year but would never buy one again.

Engine.

I just had another engine. Put in my car. I looked at it looked great. I started everything sounded good. They had worked on my brakes a while back and they were still no problem. So they're going to make sure it's fixed right for me. Which they always do. They honor all their work as guaranthat's why I love about these guys. Danny, the guy there, he's great. Guy really nice person to talk to you like I said, I give him 5 stars.

Bought it new from a dealership

Wife’s vehicle. She has loved it from day one. Just gave it to our daughter and brought a 2023 Escape. Wife loves it even more. Drove it to Arizona just a couple of months after buying it and were very happy with it.

It is great. I enjoy driving this car. I love my SUV. It is all pros and no cons at all. I also love the colors and styles of Ford Escapes. I plan to have a Ford Explored in the future by Eddie Bauer.

Not great

Not at all impressed with the craftsmanship of this vehicle! You can read my reviews based on the pro’s and con’s below! Basically the only thing that has held up for the 9 years I’ve owned it has been the engine, knock on wood!!

Bad fenders on this year.

The car itself if fine. The fenders on this year are both rusted out along with the tailgate. Start bubbling up after 2 years Ford refused to fix it. Every Escape I've seen that's a 2012 has the same rust spots.

A nice looking vehicle with many flaws

It is very hard to get in, uncomfortable seats, instruments are poorly operational, many blind spots, high gas millage and many other flaws. It looks nice form outside, but driving it is a different story. I do NOT recommend this vehilce to purchase!

It's a Ford

Minor issues with switches, Ac issues, and clutch. Overheating as time goes by. Other than that, it's good comfort with plenty of room and easier to manoever around. All in all, it's great on gas mileage

I would drive this car for the rest of my life if I could

Overall this car has been everything I could have asked it to be and more. So comfortable, reliable, and when other people ride in it I hear “wow, I forgot how nice this car is” without fail to this day. This car has moved me from apartment to apartment, city to city. It’s pulled U-Hahls with everything I owned and it’s pulled wave runners. I’ve driven back and forth between the two big cities in my state (a 200+ mile round trip) for work over the past 4 years countless times. I love the back area, having the ability to remove the back seats and fold the back into a sort of mini truck. Perfect for all my camping trips. Bought it at 78k miles 5 years ago, now at 176k. Some negatives of this car have been a few repairs. First was when I would hear a thumping noise from the front when going 40+. I can’t remember what I had to replace but it was something in the front wheel suspension area. Second was when the brake lines collapsed. Engine idles really hard and vibrates the vehicle when parked or stopped in drive. Transmission slips from time to time if not careful. Overall, I love it. I want to keep it as long as I can. If anyone has tips on how to make it last longer, let me know. It’s hard knowing I can’t drive it forever but I don’t want to think about that day just yet.

Good vehicle drives easily

Has been dependable thef four and half years I have owned it. Needed something to drive and forth to work mainly. It's been some longer trips and was really good,especially on my gas mileage. I have enjoyed it.

Escape mechanically has given us great service for 140,000 miles my big complaint is the body it’s starting to rust out at the rear wheel opening moldings way too soon and I’ve seen many other models rusted in the same spot

Escape has served uswell mechanically for 140,000 miles normal wear and tear nothing nothing major a few suspension components it also gets good mileage around town 20 miles per gallon in averages 26 on the highway and except for the premature rushed were very happy with it

Second Best Vehicle I Ever Owned

I’ve had my 2012 Escape for 10 years and my other most favorite car was a 2001 Escape I had right before it. I’ve had both over a decade with great driving and gas mileage. Typical wear and tear on tires and brakes, but no other engine problems. Wish it could last another 10 years!

Works as hard as a truck

Purchased my Escape used in an emergency situation after losing my F150 in an accident. Have always owned and driven pickups however I've found that in my old age the Escape does all the work my pickup use to and is easier for me to get in and out from. Comfortable ride, economical and easy to maintain in all respects. I have a hundred thousand plus miles on it and it's still going strong and looks as if it just came off the showroom floor. It will be a sad day when it goes out of service.

Great for quick trips

Handles well in all types of weather. Hard to get into and out. Seats are every uncomfortable and there is very little space in the frontier forming under gas cap side panel. Said to be a common problem in this car due to design. CD player does not work another Common

know your car weakness

know which parts need maintenance stay on top of the axle ring bushing which may wear out after 100,000 miles. change or check trans gear box oil once a year. and your ford escape will last over 200,000 miles. I have two ford escapes and they have over 150,000 miles already.

Very reliable

Aside from the obvious issue of rust on the rear quarter panels (wheel wells) the only problem I have had with this vehicle were the brakes early on in it's life, which was really just more of a personal preference. The stock front brake rotors were crap and I replaced them early on (30k?).
