Hyundai Genesis, 2012

The vehicle is awesome in most ways. The problems I have had: The air conditioner intermittently worked after a couple years, and it took month's before the problem was found, also, the motor for the power window - driver side door had to be replaced twice. Also, Hyundai overestimated The mileage The Genesis gets, so they were ordered to give Genesis owners so much per mile back on a master card to each customer. Other than that, the car drives and rides like a dream!

awesome car but need to repair several times in 5yrs

Performance is still good and I really like to drive my Genesis. However I need to repair several times in 5yrs. The transmission was replaced in about 18 months, front window was replaced in about 3-4 years, rubber sealer of panoramic moon roof was replaced in about 5 years, wipers was replaced in about 6 months, and audio system was malfunction sometimes in about 3 years. Most of problems were under warranty so Hyundai paid. However I had to take day off every time and I must go dealer at least twice for each repair. Front window was cracked naturally but it took so long until they agree. I visited 3 times for showing the issue. One more thing, as everybody know many people use mp3 or thumb drive for listening music instead CD. I just tried to use CD player 5 years after purchase this vehicle and I found that CD was not loaded. I asked dealer and they wanted to investigate. They said I need replace entire audio system. That is why I never ever play CD in my Genesis. However customer service care of US Hyundi Service Team for Genesis and Equus, especially Korean crew are really good. They always help customer as customer side. I appreciate their effort. Thank you.

love this car

we love our 2012 genesis this is our 2 nd 1 we had 2 get rid of our 1 st 1 due to bankruptcy we then got a g 35 which we did not like because of the interiour space we then found a nother 2012 genesis got rid of the g 35 n have been loving this ever since the only thing i dont like is the adaptive cruise control it really is a big safety concern 2 me which i could turn it off thanks

Genesis 3.8

I purchased this vehicle after researching it for over a year. The 2012 Genesis with the Technology package offers amazing smart options not offered by top expensive brands such as Mercedes or Lexus. The marriage of an amazingly powerfull V6 engine (333 horsepower) with an intelligent adaptive 8 speed transmission has resulted in a extremely powerful and comfortable ride which can also provide great fuel efficiency. This years model provides plenty of technology and comfort. However there is room for improvement as the Bluetooth option lacks many options and could be improved greatly.

A very enjoyable ride, with one exception

Pretty much my only problem with my 2012 Genesis is the Fuel Shutoff Valve not working correctly; Other than replacing a $260 filter cannister every 20K to 30K miles (which I had done 3 times while under warranty), now I have to babysit the nozzle with fueling shutting off multiple times. I've heard from other owners that this is also the case with other Hyundai models... Surprised it hasn't been addressed yet!

Love my 2012 Genesis

Bought a used 2012Genesis two years ago had a problem with an accelerator sensor, and the sun roof. Both items were covered by the extended warranty. Very happy wiht my car.

The 2012 served me very well, however I just traded for a 2018 Sonata Limited.

The vehicle did develop an electrical problem that was never resolved. The tech package apparently will draw down the battery in a few days unless the vehicle is locked upon egress. This was not a problem for the first three years and was not corrected when the problem surfaced.

Our 2012 Genesis is quiet, smooth, fast and reliable. The 8 speed transmission helped it out accelerate the 7 series BMW it replaced. If you like a quiet car with a cushy ride, this is the car for you. Great bang for the buck highway cruiser.

2012 Genesis sedan

The car has wonderful performance as far as engine quite a bit of power the ride is pretty nice styling is pretty sharp also Interior is very spacious safety features are very good to hear your lighting is good. The only drawback for a luxury car it doesn’t come equipped with a back up camera or now system which I think should’ve been part of the package when the car was built. It seems kind of funny they would build a luxury car without those options coming with the car

A bit of class AND muscle

A stylish and classy looking sedan with enough features and horsepower to make you forget at times you're driving a Hyundai. The Genesis looks and drives like a much more expensive sedan and is faster than many V-8 powered cars on the market.

Sweet ride until the tranny died!

Great driving experience. Hugs and maneuvers well. A bit of luxury and very comfortable. I love the car! I was the second owner at 50k. It was a sweet ride until the tranny died. A remanufactured transmission put in place and it's got a new life! Running Great! Hope to have fun with it for a long time. It's been an enjoyable and reliable driving experience.

2012 Genesis

We purchased this 2012 Genesis in late 2011. It has been a beautiful and mechanically reliable vehicle to own and wonderful handeling vehicle to drive. We have been all over the USA. The only real disappointment has been the relatively recent operational failur of the GPS and the incredible amount Hyundai wanted to replace it. I’ve elected to buy and use a new portable Garmin GPS for 3.8% of the amount Hyundai wanted. The Garmin completely perform the same function
