2016 Genesis..major problems

Drives nicely, but the electronics seem to be having major problems. The purchase of the vehicle at Wallace, was a day in hell, but the service department tries very hard to to resolve the problem with the electronics. I would definitely give the service department good marks for their effort.

Loaded car has safety issues! Don't buy!

Don't buy the Genesis - too many issues and my experience has been dreadful. Buy anything else. Don't expect anything out of this dealership beyond a D+. They tried to put too many features in not enough car!

Hyundai genesis

This car would have killed me. It has severe issues with breaks, air bags, and seat belt. I do not recommend this car to anyone. I took my car for service for 2 weeks. Imagine driving on the freeway, and the airbag would have popped. I could have lost my life. My wife and family would not touch this car. The saddest part is that I had to get another car because I wont drive this one. I paid for 36k miles, and the car barely has 19k for 3 years. Thankfully the lease is over within a month, and I can return this nightmare. I do not recommend this car to anyone. It is nothing but bad issues with it. Hyundai wins and I lost.

2 major drivetrain dreakdowns

This vehicle was purchased as a certified per owned car. Thank goodness. Also thak goodness for the drivetrain warranty. Less than a year after purchase, drivetrain repair required. After a very long diagnosis process which identified the issue, it took a week to have a rep stop by the dealership to authorize the repair. Then it was another few days for the part to arrive. It took less than a year from that date for a second unrelated drivetrain repair to show up. Same delay in diagnosis and authorization and repair. When the 2016 Genisis is running, I do love the car. Smooth, quite, comfortable and enoght power for me.

Beautiful looking vehicle with shoddy hardware integrity.

After reading the positive reviews and admiring this beautiful vehicle, I leased my Genesis in August of 2016. After driving it for over a year now, I am satisfied with its performance and safety features. As a senior, I find the technology, especially the Nav system more complicated than intuitive. The big disappointment has been the interior hardware. I'm about 210 pounds and the plastic drivers side underneath support has broken twice, causing me a couple of long days at the service department. I have never owned a car where I had to so gingerly exit and enter so that the plastic seat support would not shatter again. A couple of weeks ago, on a long road trip the seat belt assembly just came apart as well. When my wife went to buckle up, the tongue of the belt that goes into vehicle anchor popped out and couldn't be re-inserted creating a dangerous driving situation over 200 miles from home. If anyone reading this review can get me out of last 15 months of my lease of this shoddy machine, you will have a friend for life.

It’s NOT a Mercedes

Horrible build quality for a luxury brand, squeaks and rattles since day one, especially in my glass roof (primary reason for my purchase) like the one in my Mercedes! No fix per Hyundai corporate. Rattle continues, and I was told by Hyundai “it’s not a Mercedes”! Only it cost $10,000 MORE than my Mercedes

Disappointing car. I bought a Genesis (2016 Loaded) and now informed it isn't really a Genesis, but a Hyundai. Only the Genesis made from 2018 on are "Real" Genesis.

This car has tons of issues with the navigational system, cannot receive updates (as promised during the lease transaction) so I have a car (lease) for 4 years that can't be updated. The lessor model Hyundais are able to get updates and a fully loaded Genesis (2016) cannot. Imagine. Huge disappointment. The radio blares out "Download was unsuccessful - would you like to try again?" after about 3 or 4 minutes driving. My passengers and well as myself are alarmed by the broadcast! Every imaginable bell and whistle, but just can't be "updated" to keep up with the latest and greatest!

I Like The Car

I Generally like the car Except for the drivers side view mirror which I am sure can be corrected. The ride is smooth and the comfort is great. Otherwise I am generally satisfied with the car. I would recommend it to all my friends and relatives.

Gorgeous car...but complicated tech, and issues with driver's seat frame and support.

Wonderful car but the plastic frame underneath the drivers seat has broken 4 times...Major annoying flaw.....The safety features are nice, the tech is complicated but amazing. Beautiful and comfortable ride....but hardware integrity is a problem that makes me suspicious of buying a Genesis in the future.

To whom it may concern at Hyundai HYUNDIA WILL NOT SUPPORT 2015/16 GENESIS ULTIMATE FOR CAR-PLAY BECAUSE THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH SOLD SO THE HIGHER END BUYER GETS SCREWED.... WAY TO GO HYUNDIA.... OH BY THE WAY I'VE PURCHASED 3 VEHICLES.... THAT'S THE WAY TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! Read my full email. Let me be perfectly clear so you understand this, there is no Apple/Android car-play software for the Hyundai Genesis ultimate. I don't know why you did not make or process the software for that particular vehicle. When I read through the sights they say that there were not enough Genesis Ultimate vehicles to justify doing that software. I would hope that you would reconsider that and make a software that is compatible with the Hyundai Genesis ultimate. The company that you sent me to which I have already been in contact with states that they do not have any software for the Genesis ultimate. That would be the one with the knob on the center console. I would certainly appreciate a reply back from someone who knows what they're talking about. Once again I will tell you that I have purchased 3 Hyundai’s. Thank you Dennis

Very very nice vechicle but I have had to to take it to the shop for 3 different major issues which is a lot within one year..For the money spent on the high level vehicle I expect more from a quality level.

Transmission

I have issues with the transmission it goes in and out of gear. I brought it in but they couldn’t duplicate the problem. This is my third Genesis but in 2016 they didn’t have a 5 O so I settled with a 6 cylinder

Genesis 2016

Great looking car inside and out. Drives smooth and comfortably. The engine is quick and reliable. Roomy for large men if driving. Okay interior space for tall people otherwise. Definitely a challenge to drive if you are short. I’m five three and I have a difficult time with blind spots. The seat is not designed for short people. The interior leather is very disappointing and is already breaking down and ripping in places. I am extremely good to my cars and do not like this. The stereo system is completely outdated. It is designed for an iPod and will not work properly when using an iPhone. I was told that there is not an update to fix this problem. Voice recognition system is terrible.

Great entry level luxury car!

The vehicle comes with a nice ride, but lacks power, especially from 0-60, but understandable with having a big car with a small engine. I feel the dashboard styling could use a little updating. Genesis needs to get away from Hyundai's touch screen and come out with their own touch screen system. Overall I like my 2016 Genesis, but I'm unsure if I would return to Hyundai for another lease. I believe Genesis is biting more off than they can chew with the price increase. The genesis G80 is way over priced at $60k. For that price the G80 should come with more options, ie. rims, engine, interior styling. I feel the exterior is nice than the interior.

2016 Genesis Review

As I stated above, I have liked many features of the Genesis and believe it's a good value for the price, however, the problems I've experienced with the electronics, especially the blind spot, have made me less enthusiastic about this particular car. Apparently the problem with electronics in the 2016 was corrected with the 2017 and 2018 model year. I have friends with a 2017 Genesis who have no issues with their car. I have previously stated other problems with electronics with my Genesis, and it would be redundant to state them again.
