'24 Ioniq 5 - Limited

My first EV and overall, possibly the best car I have owned. I thought I would miss rear a view wiper, but as someone posted - use your side mirrors as that is what truck drivers do. With this in mind I don't miss the wiper, and I keep a bucket with water in my garage and after brushing the accumulated dust/dirt I wipe clean with a cloth. While not totally over range anxiety I have taken numerous 700-800 mile road trips navigating two lane secondary roads, planning my route and always managing to re-charge between 20-40%.

Good value and fun to drive

Overall I like my Ioniq 5. I think it is a good value for the money (with incentives I paid approximately $35,000). It's a lot of fun to drive. The light color interior is peaceful and has held up well to stains. It's also very comfortable to drive/ride in. Some of the assisted driving features are annoying and warnings go off unnecessarily. There is a squeak in the trunk at low speed that is very annoying. I've tried to get it fixed but the fix didn't work.

Great car that is fun to drive and holds a ton of cargo!

For a small/medium sized car this car outperforms many in acceleration and very economical to operate. Surprisingly the small vehicle can hold a ton of cargo. The backseat can slide up or back and very flexible.

Review of our new Ioniq 5

We've had the car for a year - no problems except getting used to all the high tech. Great ride, acceleration, handling and no problems with charging now that we have the Tesla adapter.

I really enjoy driving the Ioniq 5, good acceleration, comfortable. The mobile app is very good, can control a lot of features from the app, one of the best I’ve seen. Good visibility on the road, very roomy for 4 people.

Solid but has limitations

EVs are great and the Ioniq is no slouch. Its plenty fast and comfy, handles well, and has some great tech. The tech isn't perfect though. For example, the blind spot detection will trigger when making a turn in a two lane turn situation. That is pretty annoying. There's some other tech issues as well, the auto high beams should be a setting you can keep on not have to trigger every time you drive at night. One pedal driving should be able to be always on. Several others as well. The biggest issue is the lack of a rear wiper. This is fixed in the 2025 model but is an unforgivable omission in my opinion. This is a great EV but needs some refinement overall.

Pretty good for my first EV

I very much enjoy having an electric vehicle and Hyundai made it a relatively inexpensive experiment. There’s a lot to like about the EV experience and the 2024 Ioniq 5 but some drawbacks make it unlikely that I’d purchase or lease another one - unless the drawbacks were addressed.

Would purchase again, but . . .

Solidly reliable, excellent ride and handling, intuitive controls, camera rearview mirror is a favorite, as are folding side mirrors and back-up camera. Holds the road and corners and accelerates strongly. Seems like a safety-conscious choice, although I've not tested crash resistance. ;-) Lost one star because of one-time computer brain freeze. Was driving in town and all systems went down. Coasted into a parking space, turned off and on, and was back in business, but this incident caused a reduction in reliability confidence. Also, range is limited. Not a problem for charging at home or even charging in town, but charging on the road, though MOSTLY routine, can be hinky. LOVE Electrify American, BUT the stations are sometimes more that 200 miles apart, and my car won't safely deliver me 200 miles, unless it's downhill.

2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 has Good Points but Misses the Mark in Others

The Infotainment Center is poorly organized and not intuitive in the least. Controls are hidden behind unrelated buttons, and some button names are misleading. The absence of forward parking assist cameras is a major flaw.
