Decent in Summary

Overall a good car but there are some issues that stand out. The vehicle is very sensitive to bumps in the road, the smallest bump feels like a giant pothole. It's not easy to maneuver in the winter season, the littlest amount of wet snow/slush will have you sliding all over the road, even with snow tires equipped...has the tendency to get stuck as well.

Love my Sonata

My Sonata has been a GREAT car. It is comfortable, has a smooth ride and the warranty that Hyundai has can’t be beat. If you buy a Hyundai and do all required maintenance, I can assure you that the car is a work horse and will last. My Sonata is 9 years old and has been the best car!

Sonata view point on ownership

I love my Sonata very much. I was thinking I would get another one in a couple of years. It maneuvers very well. I get very good gas mileage and with regular maintenance it keeps on running smoothly. Except for this gasket problem that just arose. Which was not covered by any warranty, I have been very pleased with it's performance. I dread going to your service department because of the outrageous prices especially on labor.

Hyundai sonata 2009 gla

Very reliable car! I now have 154,000 miles on it and runs like brand new. The only complain is sisoension. It makes clunking noise over bumpy road and none can find anything wrong with the it. Not even Hyundai dealership. Very distirbing ride if the road is not perfect.

Few problems with this vehicle; gets good mileage; smooth ride; easy to maintain; seats 4 comfortably; roomy trunk; convenient fold-down rear seats; modern controls; movable steering wheel for easy entry and exit.

Love this car

I'm a tall guy, 6'6", and its difficult to find a car that is comfortable, and this car certainly is. And the rear driver seat isn't unusable even though I have my seat all the way back, another plus. So plenty of room and great gas mileage too, and I have never had a problem with it.

I love my Sonata

I drive a 2009 Sonata. The ride is still as smooth as when it was new. I am going to drive it until it dies and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Recurring brake issue

Brake caliper is seized every three years costing more than $700. No way to prevent it even with regular maintenance checkups. It's nonsense but neither Hyundai motors nor dealership cares. Not buying Hyundai anymore

Not bad for the price point

I purchased my Sonata as a demo vehicle in 2009. It has served me well but I am limited in using it for long distance driving as the seats lack the comfort needed for extended travel. I have enjoyed the Sirius radio, excellent sound system and the autos ability to cool quickly, a must for the TN summers!!! The vehicle has great gas mileage and despite the light weight, it handles well. If the manufacturer improves the seats (more or better cushioning), I could and would increase my overall rating.
