This has been a great car. Other than the recalls this car has given me no problems. It has been the nicest car and best performing car I have ever owned. I originally liked the styling and continue to like it, it's very comfortable for me, I'm 6'2" and never had a comfort problem.

Superior where it matters, less than adequate where it doesn't

The most important elements of a car - the power train and safety - are as reliable and durable as anyone should expect for a sub-$30k vehicle. Aside from recalls expected in the first year of a totally new design everything has been just about perfect. I wish my engine had a little better low-end torque off the line, but that has been addressed in newer models. Acceleration is smooth above 40 mph and passing is a breeze on freeways and open roads. Where the car falls a bit short is on the overall quality, especially in the interior. Rather than list everything, I'll just say there are multiple issues that should not happen to a car as early as they did in mine. Though the interior is still very stylish, it's quite obvious where Hyundai cut corners. The seats are durable but could be more supportive and offer longer seat length for tall people. Having driven a newer model Sonata, I can confirm Hyundai has greatly improved the car in many aspects, so I don't hesitate to recommend it. It's still a superb value relative to the other top brands' comparable models.

Sonata

I’ve had my Sonata since 2011. It is the best car we’ve owned. We’ve only had one issue and that wasn’t major I love driving my Sonata. Warranty is great and service is good. When it’s time for another car, I’d definitely consider another Sonata!!

‘11 Sonata

I’m on my fifth Hyundai. I’ve had many recalls with this car. The radio broke and dealership wants $700 to replace, absurd (I’ve read this happens a lot and Hyundai won’t replace the radio)! Love the interior and features on my limited model.

Yes.

The vehicle is impressively styled, the interior is set up in a convenient way for the driver (and the passengers), and--most important--the car has been reliable. Where I'm from, owners also benefit from a dealership that's very supportive when it comes to maintenance and repairs.

Great commuter car

I first drove the 2011 Sonata on vacation on the East Coast and logged 1500 miles on the odometer. The comfort, fuel economy and driveability was better than most cars. I bought the vehicle new. My previous 2 cars were BMW 5 series. The maintenance cost has been very low. I am a repeat customer.

Great value, but too many warranty issues.

I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS. The car itself is comfortable, and comparable to a Honda Accord. But the thing that holds it back is the constant warranty repairs. I've been back to the dealership at least five times. I don't know if that's normal. But each time, the dealership has taken great care of me and my car. They have fixed all of the warranty issues with no charge for me and sent me on my way the same day. So basically the service is good, the car is a good value, but in the 2011 model there were too many warranty issues. But the down time was minimal, although it was inconvenient. I would still recommend the car.

I bought a lemon

I don’t blame Hyundai for the issues with my Sonata and all of the money I’ve poured into my car to repair it since I bought it. But the issues I’ve since I bought it have left a sour taste in my mouth. I must say, Hyundai had an engine recall that affected my vehicle and they put a new engine in my car at no cost, that’s amazing. I would consider buying another Hyundai soon, but the 2011 Sonata I have had needed the most repairs of any other vehicles I’ve owned.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

I really like my Sonata hybrid. I just wish it got better mileage. I have never managed to get it above 41 mpg and that was on a long trip. In normal city/freeway driving it goes from 30-38 mpg. It is a comfortable, quiet car and feels very luxurious. Overall, I have been pleased with my car.

Still pleased with my choice.

Fun to own and fun to drive. Only visited a gas station 10 times in 2017. Fuel consumption is wonderful and I often go for weeks between visits to a gas station. Even in the very harsh winter weather and hot summer days, starting is no problem for this vehicle which is kept outdoors year round.

Recall Appointment

We were so pleased to receive the letter from Hyundai informing us of this seatbelt recall and immediately made the appointment to have our car belts repaired. Your company acted quickly to set the appointment and we were taken care of and finished the same week we called. The mechanic was very respectful of my 92 yr. old husband and did all he could to make him comfortable during his wait to have the repair completed.

Great car

I love my Hyundai it has the interior room of a Lincoln Town Car and I can get up to 40 miles to the gallon on the highway and 25 miles to the gallon in the city. It's comfortable and I love the room in the trunk. Once I replaced the Kumho tires with Continental Tires I went from a rough ride on the highway to a luxury ride on the highway.

Good for the long run

I bought my Sonata in 2010 and have been very pleased with its dependabilty. It is very roomy and comfortable, for long and short trips. I have almost 70,000 miles on it now and have had to only do regular servicing. I don't expect to go car shopping again in for a while. Thanks Hyundai!

Wouldn't purchase this car again

Have a 2011 Sonata Hybrid. Had many issues, some dangerous. New hybrids have lifetime warranty, this one 100k miles. Repair costs are high, headlights $1k +. Ridiculous. Mileage display is deceptive, overestimates true mileage. Some dealerships are deceptive in recommending unnecessary maintenance, others honest. No fabric protection on seats and none offered at time of purchase. Seats are set too low so it is hard to reach out of window at drive-up windows even when seat is raised. Mileage drops in cold weather as cold probably reduces effectiveness of battery or hybrid system. Car is terrible on damp, wet or slick roads, spins tires or engages anti-lock system much too easily at stop signs in such conditions.

Vehicle has had way too many recalls for my taste. Never had a vehicle with this many recalls. Won’t look at this brand next time . Vehicle is fuel efficient and looks good. Not enough power however. Going back to Honda

Love My Car!

I love everything about my Hyundai Sonata. The inside of the car is very spacious which gives everyone the room they need to be comfortable and the seat warmers in all 4 seats are a huge plus for me! I fell in love with the stereo system and that it was all touchscreen and that it was so easy to connect my phone for hands-free calling which makes me feel much safer when driving. The car drives extremely well and the back up camera is very useful! Overall I would give it a 10 out of 10! I wouldnt trade my car for anything else! I am 1 extremely satisfied customer!

Very happy customer

The car is performing terrific. Averaging about 35 mpg around the Island and 40 on the open road. The ride is comfortable, the interior is roomy. My main complaint is the length of the latch that the seat belt locks into; its too short. Should be extended about two inches. Other than that, its a great car.
