Awful car

Worse car I have ever owned. Transmission failed at 60,000 miles. Multiple trips for bake problems. Electronic features failed. Started rusting a few years ago. Never lived up to miles per gallon rating. Then after a settlement company was slow to reimburse. I ended up doing more harm to the environment then I wanted to because of the MPG factor.

Disappointed

My 2011 Sonata is totally disappointing. Peeling paint , poor quality interior, a lot of mechanical, electrical and functional issues. So far I went through more then 7 recalls. Driver sit. and front passenger sit are uncomfortable for long trips. The only positive aspect is the great mpg but because of the uncomfortable sits, I cannot use the car for traveling. I am looking to buy a new car but it won’t be a Hyundai .

Killer car. 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Yep. This is the one made in Georgia with the recall for the engine catching fire and killing people. It was a gift, really. The check engine light comes on, car to dealer, Hyundai Motor America forces the dealer to do the cheapest repair possible and then it's brought back to me. Four times now. Hyundai Motor America knows the engine catches fire, so does nhtsb, the dealer and me. It's a manufacturing issue. So if your into major anxiety, a waste of time, and dishonest, liars for your car company, this Hyundai is for you. Owned Toyotas for 25 years before this.

I had a lemon but I didn't purchase from Apple Valley

I had a lemon. It was the worst car I have ever purchased in my 54 years. It was broke down more than it was driveable. It was one thing after the other. I like the style of the car but the performance was TERRIBLE!

It was love.... with a sad ending.

We have loved our 2011 Sonata for years because we really haven’t had many problems with it. Sure, there were like 9 recalls we had to have done in 2019, but it was still doing well. Until a week and a half ago. At 138,000 miles WITH NO WARNING, the engine cut off on the interstate. My husband was able to pull to the side of the road safely and after taking it to the shop we have learned that the engine seized up and Hyundai has had it for over a week and they’re supposed to be a lifetime powertrain warranty on the engine due to some of the recall campaigns. As of right now they are trying to do everything under the sun not to cover the engine that they put their guarantee behind. An engine shouldn’t die this young. It’s a shame that they are not standing by their word. It was a good car until that point. Short life!

Engine recall but we won’t fix it

They have a engine recalll but they won’t fix it until the thing blows up and it will be in the shop 1time a week for a engine light and we want more money out of you to fix it! Waste of $ and time daily!!!

Never buy Hyundai

The worst customer service I ever received. I just needed someone to care and that never happened .Despicable!! I waited 2months to find out they would not cover warranty.I was charged $774 for a starter to perform test and they couldn't provide results I dealt with Anthony from headquarters who was the most unempathetic person I ever dealt with. Told me to rent a car and it would be covered .Not the case I was covered for 65%.I spent over $1200 only to have my car towed with no replacement engine.What a nightmare

Airbags failed twice and then burned.

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata was junk. The airbags failed 2x, and i was seriously injured. Torn left rotator cuff. Then the car burned. I'm lucky to be alive. I was locked in. These cars should be taken off of the road, until they are safe.

Nice in town car

Great little in town car, but don't take take it on a long road trip, the passenger seat is very uncomfortable. Guess the passenger isn't important. ,

Uncomfortable, noisy!

This vehicle is good on gas, but the engine is a bit quirky. The driver and passenger seat are bad for your back, they are very uncomfortable. They are too low and do not provide adequate positions on the driver seat power selections. There isn't sufficient sound isolation in the doors an engine compartment and firewall area. I do really love the 2011 Hyundai Genesis it is a beautiful car, well made and was pleasing to drive. But, I will never again drive a sonata. I only bought a Hyundai Sonata because of budget constraints, but I will return and buy a Hyundai Genesis in the future.

Recall queen

Sonata I'd a great overall car.. 2011 make of Sonata Is an absolute nightmare for car owners and will be glad when I have a different car to drive my family in.. Feel like it's been in the dealership shop for recalls a 1/3 of time if not more than I've had it in my possession in just the 1st year of ownership

Disappointed

Although I like the styling & amenities of my 2011 Sonata Limited, the number of recalls & system issues really bothers me. For example, the sun roof leaked water in closed position, the push button start system works intermittently, & my radio display went permanently blank one cold morning. Both front & rear brakes have been replaced, rear brake lights burned out simultaneously, & now the steering makes unusual noises at low speed.

Second Owener Issues

I love the car, but I really don't like that I can't get my axels fix, due to the fact that I'm the second owner and it was never done by the first owner. I think that is really unfair, and I read about the review on this year and model and a lot of the cars had axel problems. I only had the car for two years and last year I found out it already needs axels that is that fair for the 2nd owner. This car has a lot of recalls, but one of them should be axels.

Spark knock, starter, transmission

Too many issues at 50000 miles. Still trying to get spark knock and transmission issues resolved. The best purchase I made was the extended warranty with $100 deductible. Another recall in place, yet to be resolved. Stylish but obviously not dependable in my personal opinion. Would buy another Hyundai if issues could be taken care of with this one, instead of kicking the can down the road. I am now afraid to drive this vehicle very far from home. Now do something about it!

2011 Hyundai Sonata

The 2011 Hyundai Sonata has had over 5 recalls in the past 4 years. Absolutely ridiculous. Then I take them to get looked at and the dealership says they aren't "active" yet I keep getting letters in the mail about them and see the on the news.

Take Hazard

I have had multiple recalls on my vehicle, even a blown engine. I don't care with how many people have to have an issue that Hyundai is aware of before they address and issue. I bought my car brand new in 2010 and my friend did the same but her engine blew in February 2011 with the same issue that thousands of people eventually had a blown engine.

Not very reliable. Not much covered under warranty

Not very pleased with a car with only 50,000 miles on it and it has been in for a recall, a broken coil spring (not under warranty} and now also not under warranty is a part on the hybrid sensor. $700 within the last 2 months. When I emailed your customer service re: a recall on the coil spring I have heard nothing. When I asked for the regional service manager's phone number I was told he would not take my call. Really?
